Wikipedia is not a promotional platform[edit]

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Andrés Useche. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Do as you will but a live reference from IMDb was provided, and relevant publication from Mashable and others can be found. Factual information about Mr Rudd's participation in real, verifiable advocacy project called "The Cove My Friend is..." produced by Oscar-winning producer Mr. Fisher Stevens is relevant and backed up with direct verifiable sources and should not be deleted without examination. If tone of writing is problematic, information could be checked and rephrased as needed, but factual, objective, real information that is relevant to the advocacy section should be allowed to be included in Wikipedia. Thank you Livewireap (talk) 00:07, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
WP:IMDB is not a usable source on Wikipedia. Wikipedia isn't a venue for selfpromotion - kindly stop writing about yourself or adding photographs of yourself standing next to celebrities - Wikipedia is not a social networking site and you must stop treating it as one. I guess it’s okay if you make the wrong assumption, but I think this type of confusion can be fixed. If I may, one idea that comes to mind is that I and all the other contributors could be asked to always use our true names on every contribution. Making it mandatory to also offer proof of identity (document? photo? Maybe how the person interviewed does it on Reddit's AKA or something?) for all editors and administrators in order to make edits would improve the reliability and transparency of all pages on Wikipedia. To clarify, I don’t have to do this and no one is paying me to do it. I'm attempting to publish stuff that I know people haven't posted about as much, or know as much, or even know anything about, as in your case when it comes to this. I think this kind of contribution, being about factual but mostly unknown information would be valuable to have up at wikipedia. If IMDb isn't a an accepted source, cool, maybe another one could be used. Is Mashable an acceptable source for Wikipedia? If so that could be used instead. What about newspapers that you have allowed as sources in other articles? I actually at first used the same tone that others have used in the intro of other directors to re edit Andres Useche's. I assumed since they were accepted and are up, they were examples of appropriate tone. But if someone disagrees or it is deemed problematic, okay. When that is the case, I suggest a possibility would be to at least check sources and re-edit the language to make it sound as you wish.   Other people whose work I like better already have so much written about them and I thought my contribution in this case might be valuable.  Most people don’t know about these projects, this director and these collaborations, I do. The guy is from my home country, same region, and I have been following this career for a long time. However biased you think that makes me, it is a fact the collaborations you are questioning indeed happened. I, or others, can offer more sources if needed. I think that to say or imply they didn’t happen, without even taking the time to look at the sources in question might be less a less objective position, as it flies in the face of clearly verifiable facts. The photo which you have chosen to remove is a behind-the-scenes photo of“The Cove My Friend Is” in which Andres Useche directed Paul Rudd and others. It was produced by Oscar-winning producer Fisher Stevens. That is a fact. Mr. Rudd supported this wildlife conservation project by appearing in said documentary and campaign. The video and press surrounding it is available on the internet. I can point you to it, or others can.  This is true, and relevant, I feel to that section. Maybe you or other editors disagree. It is okay. One way to go about it is to suggest edits, or rephrase the tone etc etc. Or you can always remove it. But the fact that the collaboration happened shouldn’t be put into question when proof is so easily obtainable. At least that’s what I think. Thank you for reading this.
