Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Xinnovation, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item G11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Looking for answers[edit]

As the creator of the Xinnovation page, I would like someone to identify why this page was deleted. I realize the description of the deletion states "advertising". However, I do not feel that stating what product is can be considered advertising. If this is, in fact, advertising, then there could hardly be pages on Wikipedia (certainly no company profiles, explanations of products, or even hints at where things might be located in the world for fear of advertising various places on our Earth).

The Xinnovation page is a simple explanation of the company, its history and location, and a description of the field that they do business in.

I realize that you probably don't care what I think about this article or my postings, but since this is a community, I would greatly appreciate insight into this matter.

Thank you. Lmcguinness (talk) 19:51, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The guideline for notability of companies is Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). Looking briefly at your proposed article, I would say that it is not notable.
Also, you might want to develop your proposed article in your userspace, say as User:Lmcguinness/Xinnovation. That way, the article will not be deleted because it is incomplete. However, if it does not meet the notability guidelines, it will still be deleted when you move it into article space (and possibly before). (If you wish to respond then please do so here.) The "Offensive" Article[edit]

Draft of article moved to User:Lmcguinness/Xinnovation per my note below, in what I hope is a favor to all. Respectfully, — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 20:46, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome, and some tips[edit]

Hello, Lmcguinness, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you can get comfortable here, learn a few of our customs and guidelines as well as our strict rules, and help contribute to a variety of articles.

I have taken the rather unusual liberty of editing your Talk page a bit, since I realize that you are new here and might appreciate a bit of help. The first thing I've done is move your more recent additions down below the warnings you received earlier. It's usual on Talk/Discussion pages to add new sections at the bottom of the page. I hope you don't mind my doing it here.

I have also raised the level of your Looking for answers section header from 3 to 2, as is also the custom. To do this I removed one equals sin from each side, changing "===" to "==". This gives the heading a larger font size and an underline across the page.

After I finish this note to you, I am going to take another liberty: I am going to create the User:Lmcguinness/Xinnovation subpage for you and copy the entire text from your section The "Offensive" Article to that page. That is what HairyWombat was talking about above. I will then delete the text from this Talk page. Again, I hope this is alright with you. You can edit and develop the article as a draft over on the User:Lmcguinness/Xinnovation subpage until you think it's ready to go live.

And by the way, I noticed you've formatted the headings in your draft like ==== <big>History</big> ====. You almost never need to use a <big> element on WP. Instead, make it a level 2 heading, like == History ==. See the explanations at Wikipedia:Tutorial for more help.

Again, I hope you like it here. Good luck and happy editing! — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 20:39, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have followed the lead of JohnFromPinckney and further edited the article. It is generally frowned upon to mess in other peoples User space, but you did ask for help. I implemented JohnFromPinckney's suggestions, populated more fields in the {{Infobox company}} (leave the blank fields for the future), and generally tidied things up. While the article looks reasonable now, you still need to add <ref>s to it to satisfy Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). The one secondary source under References is a start, but you need more. HairyWombat 21:41, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You guys are seriously awesome. Thank you both so much! I really appreciate the help. I don't mind if you move stuff around, especially since I'm rather new to formatting (esp on talk pages). Any help is appreciated. @John, thank you for moving stuff to a different page, it definitely helps clear things up. I will re-read the formatting information that's available, it obviously didn't sink in as well as I thought. Thanks for taking the time to help a new user! @Hairy, the resources that you recommended were very helpful. I definitely have a better idea about notability now. Thanks for fixing the infobox! It looks fantastic, and I was completely out of my element making it (I copy pasted a different one). I'm working on other sources to cite, but thank you for reading it and giving me feedback.
Really guys, the tips have been so great, thanks again! Lmcguinness (talk) 13:08, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
