Peer Review[edit]

This is an overall well thought-out article. The use and amount of sources is fantastic, as well as the see also mentions. There might be too many assumed feelings of Tyra such as "she wants" or it made her the most happy. You are talking about her in a neutral sense, so you may want to omit these moments or add less emotional or personal language. On a similar note, there is some language throughout that suggests a favor of this type of art, be more objective overall about the art pieces. The lead of your article gives a great idea of the topics of it, and fleshes out perfectly the outline of what will be read in the forthcoming article. Within the education area specifically, I would discuss the degrees but not the fact that they weren't used. Every degree is usable even if it's in a field that it not similar to the career path one takes. My only other criticism would be of the syntax and grammar in some places. There are a few run-on sentences and some odd wording that can simply be proof-read and fixed. This is an overall great article that only needs a few diction and grammar rephrasing and possibly the addition of some more traditional sources besides the internet. 2600:1702:31:41F0:7DBD:DBB9:96E6:B3F1 (talk) 18:26, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notes[edit]

Hi! Here are the promised notes - I'm also going to potentially do some cleanup when possible.

  • One of the issues was neutrality. There are some phrases and tones that can be fairly harmless and even seem neutral off of Wikipedia, but can be promotional on here. Some of this can be chalked up to style, as it's important to keep a formal style since writing casually can sometimes pose issues with tone. Some words can also be seen as subjective, such as the term unique, as what's unique to one can be seen as common and traditional for another depending on their stance on the topic.
  • The other issue is sourcing - Shackleford is clearly noteworthy, given that her works are held in the permanent collections at notable institutions, as well as in exhibitions in notable locations, but the issue here is that we need to have links to these items in places other than her website, ideally the listing page on the museum/institutions' websites. We can definitely use mentions of this in places like newspaper articles and academic and scholarly sources, of course.

I've done the cleanup - now it's mostly just a matter of fixing up the sourcing. Since some of the sources for the exhibitions/collections are non-primary and there are some other non-primary sources, I think that this can be moved back live now.
