Response to "Angels"

I'm assuming from your answer that English is not your first language. :)

There could be a translation issue going on here. "Angels" perhaps might be a term used to refer to an altitude in a language other than English. As in, possibly the French word for "angels" might also be used to describe a particular altitude. I do not believe the English term has that meaning, which is why I linked to the dictionary.com entry. I certainly believe you're acting in good faith here, but I think you might be mistaken (or perhaps the person who made that post on wordreference was mistaken) about the meaning of the word. The issue is going to be with whether a forum post is going to be considered a reliable source. Under the Wikipedia guidelines, it's probably not going to be. The reason is that we have no way to verify who the person is who made that statement so we can evaluate their credibility. The other thing you need to think about is that the entry you made for "angels" wouldn't exactly be a good entry for Wikipedia anyway. It's more of a dictionary definition (e.g. "X word means Y"); that's more appropriately suited for our sister site Wiktionary. If you can find an English source (other than a forum post) backing up that definition, why not add it to Wiktionary? Gromlakh (talk) 23:10, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

I would suggest maybe just starting a discussion on the page for "angel" or "angels" over there, post what you've got, and see what you can come up with. You know that a there's an Islamic ban on Muslim women marrying non-Muslim men and there usually happens a more or less nominal conversion before marriage. News report was mentioning his alleged conversion but I later found Licursi's statement negating it. [1] If you are able to provide Italian sources about the marriage, we can enrich the article with a better balanced approach. Best regards. As you know, Turkey has a more or less secular system but majority of people (such as Rabia's family) are devout Muslims. Therefore, in practice, conversions usually happen. I remember a somewhat funny thing where a girl of Muslim heritage, though irreligious, married a guy of Roman Catholic background. He had a nominal conversion and then they got married in a church! As for the image of 'liberal Turkey', for me it is rapidly fading away.

I guess you had misinterpreted the news report. Licursi says that he didn't convert to Islam and never will, he won't have a circumcision and, furthermore, Rabia does not want it anyway.

Licursi's political affiliation doesn't have anything to do with the article. It was for me and from the beginning you seemed to know Rabia or Licursi in person, so I thought you could help. However, also in Turkish news I read that Rabia's family didn't approve of her marriage primarily because Licursi is a communist and they, on the other hand, are staunch Turkish nationalists and anti-communists.
