November 2007[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Braveheart, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did to Braveheart, you will be blocked from editing. Jackollie (talk) 04:40, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why not mess around in the sandbox? You can get as wild and elaborate as you want to there, without ruining the night of some poor person who spent 38 hours writing the Braveheart article! :-) Jackollie (talk) 04:45, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Our entries crossed - apology accepted. We need some good, good-humored (ahem) editors around here - why not look around and find something you seriously want to contribute to? Jackollie (talk) 04:47, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bleh. Well, I tried. Whatever. Just a few more days, and I'll be able to edit again.

Editing his user page was an honest mistake... I had no idea that there was difference anyhow...Heck I didn't look at where I was posting.

Perhaps I should have posted that instead of that overly harsh request...Sigh.

Yeah, hindsight is a pain. :-P By the way, did you know that you can sign and datestamp your comments by typing four tildes in a row? Jackollie (talk) 02:41, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Longshanks - I'm not an admin, so I'm probably stupid for sticking my oar in, but I suspect that the Orangemarlin user page problem is the fact that you posted on Orangemarlin's user page, not on his discussion page. User Pages are pretty much reserved only for that individual's use. That combined with a previous vandalism warning are what would draw an admin's eye. (Like it or not, after a warning you're more or less on probation until you've proved constructive for a while.) Would you let me offer a little absolutely none of my business advice? Grit your teeth, wait it out, then come back and have a look around. Learn how things are done, and move slowly. Poke around in the guidelines and ask questions. Boy, there's a lot to learn here. Tildes and other useful things[edit]

This squiggle thing ~ . On my keyboard it's the key to the left of the number 1. Type four in a row, and when you save your edit it will automatically convert into a signature and datestamp.

Somebody left these on my talk page soon after I started editing - I thought they were handy to have.

Darn it, I just realized I should have looked at that "Questions" page the other day when I was trying to find something. Anyway, hope these are helpful. Jackollie (talk) 00:57, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

s/t personal.. (yeah, it's unwiki-like)[edit]

so, no offense - but just had a short glimpse to a few contributions you've made and considering your username .. please don't tell your numerical appendix is somehow related to your YoB — otherwise I'd dare to eat a broom. Changing fonts[edit]

Yep, changing fonts in an article would be frowned on. Check out this section of the Manual of Style to see why. You can mess with your user page or the the sandbox if you feel the need.

Why would you want to make ANY change for no reason? Jackollie (talk) 04:21, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Frankly, neither do I (know how to do that type of thing). Jackollie (talk) 04:46, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
To start editing your user page, click on the tab up at the top where it says "user page." There will be a box midway down the page you can start typing in. Click the "preview" button to see what you've done, click save page to do the obvious. For more info, see the "how to edit a page" page. Jackollie (talk) 04:54, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
