Hello,

There are many articles that contain existing inappropriate links. Many times spam fighters such as myself don't have the time to review existing links, it's all we can do to keep up with new links that are being added. However, I have re-reviewed the links at Paid surveys, and have determined that all of the working links were spam, and not proper references for the article. They were either not reliable sources of information, or they consisted of "referral links" - links that contained referral codes so that the site gets compensation or recognition for anyone that clicks on that. Spam, essentially.

This is also the reason I removed the link you mention. The links contained on that website had these referral codes, and Wikipedia isn't here to promote other websites. Articles need more cited information from reliable sources, not more external links.

Let me know if you have any other concerns or questions --AbsolutDan (talk) 13:21, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spam links[edit]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. -THB 19:47, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Minor vs. major changes[edit]

If you have your default set to minor, you may wish to reset it in "my preferences" as you characterized adding a link and a description of it as "minor". Thanks. -THB 20:41, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spam links[edit]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. If you continue, your account will be blocked. The website you are spamming can be blocked from insertion as well. Thanks. -THB 01:30, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
