  1. ^ Gallatin's election was challenged, and found wanting on February 28, 1794.
  2. ^ Ross was elected to replace Gallatin and was sworn in on April 24, 1794.
  3. ^ Muhlenberg was offered an appointment by President Jefferson, and resigned on June 30, 1801.
  4. ^ Logan was appointed to replace Muhlenberg and was sworn in on July 13, 1801.
  5. ^ Maclay resigned on January 4, 1809.
  6. ^ Senator-elect Leib was appointed to finish the session, and was seated January 9, 1809.
  7. ^ Leib resigned on February 14, 1814 to become Postmaster of Philaelphia.
  8. ^ Roberts was elected to replace Leib and was sworn in on February 24, 1814.
  9. ^ At first the legislature couldn't decide, Findlay was finally seated on December 10, 1821.
  10. ^ Barnard resigned on December 6, 1831.
  11. ^ Elected to replace Barnard, Dallas was sworn in on December 13, 1831.
