MCC Bicentenary Celebration match

Bicentenary Celebration match? Bicentenary Celebration of what? The correct title is MCC Bicentenary Celebration match (Reference: http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/series/757771.html). Moreover it was not an ODI match, not even List A, just an exhibition match. Stop moving the article without proper research. Thank you. Dee03 18:22, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

Do you know that |blp=no makes no visual effect and in fact it is useless? This is the reason I removed it. to avoid unnecessary parameters pollution. In contrary living=no makes sense. Hi Lugnuts. I moved this so you could find it and respond to it if you wish to. Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 21:33, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Sorry I wrote my question in the wrong place, Im not so familiar with user talk. The reason I asked why it was reverted is I wonder why a simple "citation needed" wasnt enough in this case? I cant see any reason why I or someone else would invent something like this on our own, so there should be no reason to suspect it to be false information? It was translated from the Norwegian Wiki page. Anyways, I re-reverted the edit and inserted verifications for the content in the text so everything should be okay now.

Stuart A. Reiss-maybe move to possibly alive?

So he is 93-which yes that is pretty old but no info on him for over 20 years, and someone did put a death date once but that was removed. Thinking of putting him on possibly alive-what do you think? Stuart A. Reiss

There are some others that I'm not sure of. While some people who are really old that either won or were nominated for a Oscar I have found proof they are alive (such as the editor of High Noon and the art director of Bedknobs and Broomsticks, which the first is 100 and the latter is 97, both are alive and have found evidence of them)

Question about the use dmy dates tag

Is it something I should put on pages that I create for bios? (I have made a few more in the past week, so I was just wondering this), I do get that it is to do the day/month/year (even if I rather do it by month/day/year, but since most of the world does it this way as day/month/year.). So yeah is it a tag that should go on bios is what I'm wondering. Thanks. Wgolf (talk) 15:19, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Okay thanks! For the past couple of days I've been checking the possibly living people section. I've moved quite a few out and quite a few in as well. (One guy about a year ago seem to put a bunch of Brazilian swimmers from the 1930s as all being alive-some people don't seem to get that just because there is no date of death does not mean they are alive-well I mean when they are that old. And since looking at the years of some of there births it would of made them older then the oldest living Brazilian Olympian!)

It has been hectic doing it-but I did move out all of the 19th century births from possibly living to date of death missing and one person actually found someones date of death soon after! And I've been moving some in that were listed as old as 105 into possibly living!

Well good luck!

Someone who was shown at the In Memorium at the 2013 Oscars, but cant' find any link to there death other then message boards.

Okay so I was looking at the people from that year and Michael J. Kohut came up. He was listed as living on here and the IMDB. He apparently died in March 2012, but I can't find any source of his death. All I could find was something on a few message boards like this (which was the biggest mention of his death): http://jwsoundgroup.net/index.php?/topic/10608-rip-mike-kohut/

Which I did put him under 2012 deaths then, but I'm not sure what to link to his death as I don't think Wikipedia usually excepts things like that for peoples deaths. (Though in the age of social networking it seems that people like this are often just listed as dying that way).

It is odd either way.

Wgolf (talk) 20:47, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

This interesting case of Hal Gausman

Okay so I found some evidence that he is alive and born in 1934-while the German wiki says he was born in 1917 and died in 2003. So I then put him on possibly living. I believe though that it is 2 different people with the same name upon thinking about it. As given his long career you think he would have some evidence of him dying in 2003 (the only person with that name I can find that died that year is a WW2 vet) and working at Disney you know they have a record of him dying as well as the Oscars would of had his name at the very least... Just a note

I found the lost film article (quite by random) you created, Who's Your Neighbor?, and gave it a major overhaul. I placed it up on GAN, but I tell you that Wikipedia has the best information on this film now. Quite a few hours going through the archives to get the details, but I've reconstructed the plot from four reviews, dug up the reception and even got a good amount of production and release information. The film is so interesting, sad it is lost! Glad to see you still are floating about here. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 06:51, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

Think that some of these award pages could be a good idea for DAB pages?

Okay I just made a redirect for Best Production Design, and upon thinking about it-that could be a good DAB page instead for any award with that name. Same with such awards like Best Makeup, Best Costumes and Best Sound Editing (though Best Sound Editing might be best as just a redirect). What do you think? Wgolf (talk) 17:23, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

A set decorator page that is linked to 2002 deaths but no refs (and is listed as possibly living)

So yeah was looking at the pages and I found Pamela Cornell, which someone apparently did put her as possibly living a few years ago (that is a good idea given no refs of course) I was trying to search online for anything on her (which I've been doing for tons of these people as of late), nothing but as I looked on what links here it was linked to 2002 in film saying she died that year-yet can't find a single ref about that. So should we just keep her as possibly living or what? Wgolf (talk) 19:27, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the response-some names are downright hard to find due to common names (like if there name is Bob Smith-good luck!) or just the last name (got things for Cornell college!). How many Olympians do you think there are without articles?WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 19:36, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

  • @WikiOriginal-9-I've been wondering that also, that and the Oscar nomninees seem to be compete for the most part for the major ones. But still tons of them are MIA.Wgolf (talk) 20:52, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
    • A database of red links for some things would be the greatest page ever. Also, Lugnuts estimated it was about 10,000 Olympians. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 21:04, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
      • Yeah I tried getting every Oscar winner earlier this year and then it just got too crazy with every nomination in all of the odd stuff even. Wgolf (talk) 21:16, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
@WikiOriginal-9: and @Wgolf: - Looking at just the 1972 Summer Olympics (one picked at random), the article states that 7,170 atheletes competed. In the sub-categories of Category:Competitors at the 1972 Summer Olympics, there are a total of 3,276 people, so approx 45% of the total. So there are 3,894 missing just from the 1972 games. You can do your own maths for the rest of the years! Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 06:55, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
Well I have been finding tons of people who have no info for years as of late with no DOB that I've been moving to possibly living (as well as people who don't even have year of birth missing-thanks to one of the tools I can find that easy). Then in some cases I'm not sure what to say when the foreign wikis have conflicting info. (Like one guy who was a ambassador to China I believe said born in 1950 on one wiki and born in 48 on another one. In that case I left it alone as he is probably easier to find the DOB for then someone like some lady who might of been born in 1910 or 1911.) I also try to avoid putting a year of birth from a foreign wiki if there is no date as sometimes it just means around.

I even looked up on a older VG system to see how many redlinks there are-depending on the system and the popularity of course you will see more/less. If the the console only had like 20 games it might have mostly red links or none at all (like the NES has not a lot of red links for the US games even if there were over 700 games but due to the popularity of course there wouldn't be tons) Wgolf (talk) 14:44, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

The Blood Red Tape of Charity

So it seems you also created the The Blood Red Tape of Charity! This is everything useful (aside some extra theater ads) that I dug up. Probably as comprehensive as you can get unless someone digs up a surviving copy or some new sources. I added considerably to the known information by digging up that interview with August as the screenwriter (another ad notes as such too) and by getting the surviving synopses of the film. I have a feeling that IMDb will be updated information on Lon Chaney soon. Though Silent Era's use of IMDb is becoming an issue, but I got no response from the webmaster. You're Sleeping, Nicole

My pleasure. I really wish sometimes that I had more resources and more active interest among other editors (my Genie cleanup project never really got off the ground, for starters), but I do the best I can.

Just in case it was unclear, though, there's nothing wrong with starting off with the French title if that's the title you can locate and source at the time you're starting the article — especially for a film that's premiering at Cannes, the film's eventual English title might not be immediately apparent. Even Canadian media, presumably because of the nature of Canadian language politics, will very often cover a Quebec film under its original French title, even while simultaneously using the English title for a film from France — so sometimes we end up having no sourceable trace of a Quebec film's English title for a few months. So just to reassure you, you didn't do anything wrong in that case — it's perfectly acceptable to start with the French title if you can't properly source an English title yet, and then move the article afterward once the English title is actually known. I'm uncertain about your meaning in your edit summary. Are you referring to only the infobox template, or the content itself? If that content (Sundance Selects/IFC Films as the USA distributor) gets removed from the infobox, it should be mentioned in the body of the article. What do you think? -- Brangifer (talk) 17:05, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

BMK's talk page.

Hey there.

I see your posts on BMK's talk page are being removed.

You're not the only person he treats thus: I recently found myself in the novel situation where I was required by process to inform him of a discussion, yet he responded by removing it, still insisting that I was not allowed to post there. I'd just give up and disregard his insistence that the posts are "unread" as removal of notices is taken as acknowledgement of them.

You may find this thread from June interesting. Amusingly, here is Ken's response to my flagging him with a template after he saw fit to hit me with one. Seemed reasonable that if I was seen to be editwarring then the other guilty party should be warned as well... Chaheel Riens (talk) 18:29, 18 September 2014 (UTC)

While it may be necessary to inform him about a discussion or problem once, what you are doing now is harassing him. People are allowed to remove messages from their talk page, but others are not allowed to post them again, and even less so when they have been asked or told to stay of that user talk page. Do not repost the same or similar posts on his user talk page again, and try to stay of his talk page as much as possible. If you continue to post there like you did today and yesterday, you will be blocked. Fram (talk) 10:15, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing me to that voting page! I supported it of course. First time I have been on that voting page. Thank you for your appreciation, it means a lot, sometimes I think I'm alone editing cycling articles. Congrats on all those articles started, it is... I suspect you of computer doping! lol. I wrote much of the Jens Voigt article sporadically in the last 2 years. So much appreciation is very welcome! Do you think the news has a chance to make it?? Mattaidepikiw (Talk) 19:11, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
Well, I'm afraid that is as far as I'll go for the article (for today). Feel free to take a look and correct any grammar mishap in the hour section. Keep in touch :) Mattaidepikiw (Talk) 22:20, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
We have the pic Lugnuts! someone posted one on the article. Mattaidepikiw (Talk) 23:32, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
High five :) Mattaidepikiw (Talk) 19:58, 20 September 2014 (UTC)
Is there some kind of template I can put on my userpage as a souvenir for this since I contributed lots to the 'hour' bit on Jens article?? (Yes I'm greedy) Mattaidepikiw (Talk) 20:53, 20 September 2014 (UTC)

So a thing I am putting on a Oscar nominated films page I'm trying to find a source for

On this old film With Byrd at the South Pole I remember reading somewhere that it was the only doc to win cinematography (well you can just look that up easily) and that it caused them to also stop giving doc that award as it was unfair but I am unable to find the source, I think it might of been in a book or something, so should I probably mention it or what? (I'm trying to expand some movie pages to whatever I can find). Wgolf (talk) 18:29, 20 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks-also trying to find any of these older Oscar films things about DVD/video releases to add to there pages. (the majority of films that don't have pages that are Oscar noms are in song and score, actually I think thats all that is left, oddly 3 song nominees from the 70s don't have pages while nearly every other decade is complete) Wgolf (talk) 18:33, 20 September 2014 (UTC)

Any favorites for the race on Sunday? Let's pick 2 riders each. You start :) By the way I uploaded two good pics of Juan Antonio Flecha, first time I upload pics, what a chore to find some "legal" ones Your header made me laugh a lot btw XD Mattaidepikiw (Talk) 21:13, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't stop to think it might be a joke as I was pretty upset by one of the admin's recommending I "discussed" the "issue" with the editor. Guess I should've known seeing the top of your TP :) Cheers. Gaba (talk) 13:55, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
Your humor was a bit too subtle for me to get. Perhaps indicate the tone of your comment with a little (joke) label. Chillum 16:41, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

Worlds

Well, no one wins XD. I think Michal Kwiatkowski's article is not long enough to be nominated in the news, what do you think? Nice win he had, anyway. Our guys did absolutely nothing lol Mattaidepikiw (Talk) 16:56, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

  • OK, well I'd support it then. Mattaidepikiw (Talk) 17:01, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
    • I read it and it is good, but the tense needs to be adjusted and it needs to have text about the race, and I don't have the energy to write like I did for Jens Voigt lol. Let's see if someone picks it up. Mattaidepikiw (Talk) 17:05, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
      • Well, I guess it is too late to nominate it... BTW, a huge congrats on the gazillion articles you created! What a machine! Mattaidepikiw (Talk) 13:42, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
