Hello, Lusianaarango, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Notes

[edit]

Hi - here are my notes:

  • Weight management falls into the realm of health and medicine in many ways, so I'd like you to take this training module. I'm concerned that some of your sources are studies, which is problematic because they're primary sources for any of the claims and research conducted. The training module, as well as WP:MEDRS covers this a bit more. Essentially, in order to help verify the claims and show how this specific study (or studies) is notable enough to highlight over similar studies, we need secondary coverage that backs up the claims and covers the study, like a literature review.
  • Avoid point of view statements like "This is not surprising given the lack of a clear evidence base", as this is going to be subjective to the reader and is also limited to yourself. We can say that a specific person in the source made this claim, such as "Gary Egger has stated that this is not surprising, citing a lack of a clear evidence base.", but we can't state it ourselves.
  • There's merit in listing common misconceptions, however they should be attributed to the people making the claims.

I removed this for the time being since there are some issues to fix. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:44, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
