Preliminary Review from Kaylea[edit]

Hi, I'm starting to walk through articles and give everyone informal early feedback on how they're doing. You'll notice this is a little bit form-letter-ish but I hope it is still helpful.

I see you've made some changes and are starting to incorporate elements from our training, but there's still a ways to go with this article. If you're feeling stuck, please let me know how I can support you.

One area to improve for this article is your use of sources and citations. Right now what I see is a fair bit of text being added without the sources to back it up; also, you should be aware that the editorial policies of Baidu have led Wikipedians to conclude that it is not a reliable source:

Follow up on progress[edit]

Hi @Lydialzy:

You're making progress on this article. Make sure you are using reliable sources instead of promotional/advertising sources -- qq.com is not considered reliable. You can see a list of reliable sources here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_China#Resources and more discussion about sources here, if you scroll down: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Perennial_sources. I know it's hard because there is not very much pop culture coverage in the mainstream press. One thing I am noticing is that "fan" type content is creeping in to this article. Usually personal hobbies or personal appearance like the items you have in == Character evaluation == are not considered encyclopedic and need to be omitted. Keep going!

Feedback[edit]

Hi @Lydialzy:

I made a few more edits. Keep working on the sources. Also, unfortunately, his hobbies are not encyclopedic details and need to be omitted :/

Unfortunately, this information is not very clear and some of it sounds unencyclopedic:

Character Evaluation Lin Yi's performance in the "Beautiful Boys Academy" program was remarkable. [6] In the acting class, Feng Xiaogang proposed to himplay the classic clips in the movies he shot. Lin Yi restored the clip of "Old Pao'er" and staged a classic scene of "Old Pao'er" drinking with his son with Feng Xiaogang. Facing his "father"'s lesson, Lin Yi's "ruthlessness" made the air around him freeze. Director Feng commented that it was very comfortable to connect with Lin Yi's pairing, and his acting skills were recognized.[24]

Is this critical reception? Discussion of acting skills?

Who remarked on his performance? Is this "critical reception of .... was positive...." I'm also not sure I fully understand the significance of the interaction with Feng Xiaogang -- was this during the shooting of a film? I'm not sure what it means to connect with Lin Yi's pairing?

Other than this section that is still a bit troubled, you are approved to go live.

Unfortunately I know you've needed to cut out some details and that leaves the article shorter than you were trying to present. The article looks like it needs more work before it would receive full credit for this assignment, but you have approval to move it to live if you are ready. If you want to, you can move it to live and then continue to work. The goal is to advance the article by a quality class in ways that demonstrate engagement with the norms of Wikipedia.

As a reminder, here are our go-live steps:

  1. Final read-through draft.
  2. Check live article for changes. [History Tab]
  3. Two browsers side by side, if you can. Source editing mode ("Code mode"), not visual editor.
  4. Paragraph by paragraph copy, leaving behind an explanatory edit summary after each chunk of changes.
  5. Note on article talk page.
  6. Note at the top of your sandbox version.
  7. Submit a link to your article on Canvas.
  8. Celebrate!
