Please read the message I posted above and stop adding flags to infoboxes on articles about weapons, cartridges etc, because it violates both Wikipedia's Manual of Style (see WP:INFOBOXFLAG, WP:MILMOS#MOSFLAG and others) and a longstanding consensus on those kinds of articles. Sourcing from GoogleBooks

Hello, I just approved Mannlicher M1890 for you. In its initial state it would not have passed review since the Hungariae site appears to be a (albeit very knowledgeable) hobbyist site rather than a formal production. See WP:Reliable sources. But since I'm interested in the topic, I took 15 minutes or so and went to GoogleBooks, dug up some citations. Some of the old books literally give all the length/weight/velocity measurement data right there in black and white. I wanted to find more detail about its adoption and later displacement by the 1895, but since time is a factor I added just enough cites to put it through.

For your future drafts, ensure you try a variety of different keywords on GoogleBooks and see if you can find some authoritative works to cite. I switched it up a bit, so searched under Mannlicher M1890 as well as Mannlicher 1890, Mannlicher M90, etc. So whatever you write next, aim to get strong sources from GoogleBooks. You can instantly turn a gBooks URL into a full Wikipedia footnote with http://reftag.appspot.com . Amazing tool, huge time-saver and nice clean format.

Oh, couple small points to consider for future articles. Once a piece publishes, check around Wikipedia for mentions of your topic that need to have a WP:wikilink added so people can come to your article for more info. I also checked Google, and found out that Polish Wikipedia has pl:Karabin Mannlicher M1890, so I linked them using the tool in the left margin, so now your article has a little link in the left margin to check out the Polish version. Just pointing out some of the settup stuff I reflexively do for new articles, good little habits to get into. Thanks again! MatthewVanitas (talk) 21:49, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

Categories

Straight-pull bolt-action rifles should still be in the bolt-action rifles category. Really, straight-pull should be a subcategory of bolt-action. Please re-add bolt-action for the straight-pull rifles. Faceless Enemy (talk) 13:25, 15 April 2015 (UTC)

The Category:Straight-pull rifles is already a subcategory of Category:Bolt-action rifles, and by changing the Bolt-action category to Straight-pull rifles category I just make the clarification more precise. Hi, wasn't the SA the Nazi Party's own paramilitary organization at the time of adoption of the rifle? And you probably meant that they used the K98k, not the M48. M11rtinb (talk) 04:52, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Sorry I meant the Wehrmacht. I'm not writing my thoughts clearly today (I was thinking the SA and SS were the Nazis but not necessarily the regular uniformed forces). And yes, the K98. I had the M48 article in my head. The early designs started long before the Nazis came to power, and the redesign order came later in 1935. I'm not looking to be contentious on the issue.MartinezMD (talk) 05:37, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
