Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia with this username. This is because your username, MAD JIHAD, appears to be likely to annoy other editors.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I would like to know the exact reason why my username was banned. What specifically about my username makes it not allowed? "likely to annoy other editors" Is extremely vague and this is not my intention at all.

Decline reason:

I concur with the blocking admin. Even if your chosen name is meant not to be taken seriously, the use of the word "jihad" in today's terrorism-aware world is not appropriate. Please choose different name, using {{unblock-un}}. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 11:08, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I would like The Anome to chime in, but I would be inclined to unblock. The username does not appear to be a blatant violation of the username policy, at least to me. Ks0stm (TCGE) 07:36, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome to unblock, but I'm afraid will have to decline to do so myself: if I wasn't clear about it above, my block rationale was that the association between the word "jihad" and the current wave of terrorism is likely to be disruptive, and I still think that's the case. Even if meant as a joke (which I think this is), I still think this is pretty much guaranteed to annoy some other editors. Why not choose a name that isn't likely to do so, instead? -- The Anome (talk) 09:47, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That's fair, I suppose. MAD JIHAD, I would recommend choosing a less divisive username, not necessarily because I think there's anything wrong with your username, but more because this one seems to be somewhat divisive and I can see it causing you headaches. When you decide on another username you would be happy with (be sure to check that it is available by searching for it at Special:CentralAuth), place {{unblock-un | user=new username | reason=Request unblock to change username. ~~~~}} below this message, replacing "new username" with the username you choose. I and the project look forward to having you as an editor! Ks0stm (TCGE) 16:37, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
