Notability of CREES

[edit]

A tag has been placed on CREES requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. —C.Fred (talk) 11:42, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because it has been identified as an account used for promotion of a company or group, with a username that implies that this has been done by that company or group. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

This kind of activity is considered spamming and forbidden by policies, and also violates our username policy.

However, if you feel that there has been a mistake in your blocking, please appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below or email the administrator who blocked you. Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Please check that your new username has not already been taken by checking this list.

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

As long as this editor immediately applies for a change of username; and abides by the "pledge to refrain from making edits that act to promote CREES directly or indirectly", see no reason not to unblock. However, I would suggest creation of a userpage that frankly discloses the relationship of this user to CREES and the Manu region; that's part of why we have userpages.

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

"Promotion" is not limited to commercial ventures, by any means. Indeed, some of our biggest problems here are with people who wish to promote an organization, a cause, a charity, etc. Are you saying you have no relationship to CREES (employee, contractor, board member, etc.)? Are you pledging that you will refrain from any edits which could be interpreted as acting to promote CREES or any other entity in Manu region? (We're painfully aware ourselves that our coverage of regions like this is not what it could be.) --Orange Mike | Talk 12:50, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have a working relationship with CREES by the virtue of proximity to their research centre. I use their facilities and contribute work to their project archives at the centre; I also apply for funding for my projects through them, as they are the only legitimate institution in the region. This is the extent of my relationship. I pledge to refrain from making edits that act to promote CREES directly or indirectly. 14:56, 24 March 2009 (GMT) —Preceding unsigned comment added by CREES-MANU (talkcontribs)

Speedy deletion of Manu Learning Centre

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Manu Learning Centre, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.
