Queen's Award category

Be aware of this and the fact that the fun sponges might be coming after you sooner rather than later to delete it. --10mmsocket (talk) 21:53, 9 June 2021 (UTC)

Thanks. MIDI (talk) 08:19, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
Wow, they really were quick! 10mmsocket (talk) 08:34, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
Nah, that was me! I G7'd it; there's no way it would survive another AfD so soon after the previous one – especially as the only change was a slightly different name. If the award is as prestigious as it purports to be, then it's on par with the MBE and therefore could be justified as a defining feature of the recipient. I can't help but feel that the problem of it not being seen as a defining feature is that it's a relatively new scheme and I suppose it's relatively little-known. Wikipedia podcast

Hi MIDI,

Hope you're well. I was wondering whether you'd be up for speaking with me a bit about your work on Wikipedia? I'm a podcast producer and we're making a documentary about Wikipedia. I've already interviewed a number of people from the community and I've come across some edits you've made on pages I'm interested in, and was hoping I could talk to you a bit about it.

Thanks!

Wearecrowd (talk) 14:23, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Wearecrowd:! Sounds interesting. May I ask which page(s) made you want to drop me a line? Thanks, MIDI (talk) 11:01, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi @MIDI:, thanks so much for getting back to me. It was the Murder of Sarah Everard page that I was looking at and saw you've been quite active on. Is there an email I could contact you on directly, so I could tell you more?

Thanks, Wearecrowd (talk) 11:13, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

Sure! My emails are open – Special:EmailUser/MIDI. MIDI (talk) 10:03, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

Jill Murphy (Actress)

There are still two citations that need to be added, otherwise the AFD will be back up. --TheWingedWarrior (talk) 12:19, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

The referencing of the article is not good, and it doesn't seem to be easy to find reliable sources to add to the article. That said, I objected to the parts of the proposed deletion rationale that said the article was more like a blog and sounded like a hoax. The article now has two citations for this actor's work, which isn't brilliant but stops it from being an unreferenced biography. If you do take the article to WP:AFD, You may wish to consider the notability guidelines for entertainers. MIDI (talk) 13:56, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

ITN edit

I added the middle initial in response to a comment, now at WP:ERRORS, that the deceased person could be confused with a living person of the same name. 331dot (talk) 17:59, 12 September 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for flagging – I'll self-revert and comment there. MIDI (talk) 18:00, 12 September 2021 (UTC)

New Wikipedia Guideline Proposed which you might be interested in.

Hello. I am letting editors know who participated in the recent discussions that decided whether the Killing of David Amess should be called "killing, murder, or assassination", about a new Wikipedia essay being proposed for a new guideline. The essay, Wikipedia:Assassination, explains how the common definition of "assassination" does not determine an article's title. Only reliable sources can determine whether it is murder/killing or assassination. Since you participated in those recent discussions, I wanted to drop a message to you about this new proposal. If you want to leave your opinion about it, you can do so in this discussion. Have a good day and keep up the good editing! Elijahandskip (talk) 01:42, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Rolf W. Schnyder

Hello, this is random but I noticed you made edits to Rolf W. Schnyder years ago, and I was recently copyediting the article because most of what was added by a COI editor is pretty bad stuff. No sources. It's so puffed up it reads like satire. I can't find any sources on the web for 90% of it, but I feel a little bad deleting content from a deceased person's WP:BIO article without certainty. But it also doesn't fit Wikipedia guidelines. Do you have any recommendations for a course of action? Thanks for your time. Pyrrho the Skeptic (talk) 16:48, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

Thanks @Pyrrho the Skeptic:. I've just started looking into this, and I've just blocked User:Ulysse-nardin for WP:ORGNAME. I can't help but feel this is a case of WP:MEMORIAL, and having skim-read the article I can't see anything that suggests this person is notable. I will raise this at WP:AFD if you like? It was a LONG time ago I edited it – not only that, but it was an AWB edit so one I'm even less likely to remember! :) MIDI (talk) 17:10, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
