Charles MacCarty, Viscount Muskerry

Dear Mabuska. I wanted to share with you an recent experience I had while editing the article Charles MacCarty, Viscount Muskerry (which still has many problems). I found that Charles was also known as Cormac, at least in his earlier life. One finds that name in Carte and Firth (cited in the article). Now, user Claíomh Solais (since banned) had on 20 July 2015 added a different Irish name: Cathal Mac Cárthaigh. I found that you had left a comment on his talk page very patiently and kindly warning him about adding invented Irish names. The modern equivalent of his English name is not necessarily his true Irish name. The case very much illustrates your point. I thought you would like to know. With many thanks, Johannes Schade (talk) 19:42, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the notice. Cormac being an attested to earlier Irish name for him discounts Claiomh Solais' retro-translation of Charles to Cathal. If it isn't sourced in any way then his addition should be removed. I'd suggest placing a sentence in the late stating that he was previously known by the Irish name Cormac. In face I'll do it. Dear Mabuska. Thank you very much for your reply and your edit on Charles MacCarty, Viscount Muskerry. Following your guidance I will proceed as you suggest in future similar cases, which are not entirely rare. With kind regards, Johannes Schade (talk) 17:08, 7 August 2020 (UTC)

A toast sandwich for you!

Liam Neeson

Hello again. I see you edited this page before me, and you could help me out here. The source for British is the honours list. It doesn't say British per se, so you think we can do better? Will have a leaf around, but if you get there first no hassle. TIA Arnkellow (talk) 18:52, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
