I noticed you italicised the quotations and removed the blockquotes. WP:MOS#Quotations says (and I'll break the rule here ;-)) Use quotation marks or indentations to distinguish quotations from other text. There is normally no need to put quotations in italics unless the material would otherwise call for italics (emphasis, use of non-English words, etc.). -- Iantalk 10:33, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

See my comments in the vote and I would appreciate you making a reconsideration of your vote on this matter. Sudden interest can fade just as quickly as it occurs. I don't want to have to come back in 3 more months because this article is just as dead then as it was before the AFD. Thank you. -- SusanLarson (User Talk, New talk, Contribs) 13:41, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My intention was to point out that until the article was nominated for deletion there was absolutely no interest in the it for the 4 months since it was created. The edits only occured because it was nominated for deletion. I suspect that the interest will go away once the AFD is completed. The purpose of article for deletion is to decide on deletion or not. It is not something to warn people that an article may be deleted so they better rush off and throw some quickie edits on it. I see the actions after the AFD as an attempt to subvert the AfD process. Thus violating the principle that the process is important -- SusanLarson (User Talk, New talk, Contribs) 15:34, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This user is basically asking for a ban. Their talk consists of nothing but warnings about vandalism etc. The last warning was level 3: "Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia." And I just reverted more vandalism from the article, Doom. Possilby, as an admin, you could look into this? None of the warnings have ever been responded to, the vandalism simply continues. Thanks --Naha|(talk) 18:49, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I'll remember to do that. I'll add "null" edits to previous ones to add those IPs. Thanks for the heads up. -- ShinmaWa(talk) 15:55, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, does that include redirects as well? I've resolved several AFCs through a simple redirect to preexisting material. Would we need to record that as well, given that no new real material has been added? -- ShinmaWa(talk) 16:06, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Aladin AfD[edit]

The Aladin (magician) article is up for deletion for the third time in as many weeks, if you would like to participate in the poll, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aladin (magician). I saw on a user page that you had done some of your own research to verify the claims on notability. Could you please tell me more about what you found? Thanks. Elonka 06:04, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the information.  :) I've been trying to find a copy of the Oxford Student article myself, but haven't had any luck yet. All I've found are multiple references from other periodicals, that mention the article but without giving much detail other than that it was a positive piece... Oh, and since I see you're an admin, you may wish to participate in one of the other Aladin discussions out there: Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Aladin (magician), Wikipedia:Requests for page protection#aladin (magician), or Talk:Eenasul Fateh. Armenian Genocide[edit]

In checking on the research on wikipedia i found some erros that need to be addressed...the information says "related deaths". Implying that the deaths were not caused by the suppresive turkish forces. The library of congress has on record that the the turkish government at that time ordered and carried out the death of armenians in that area. My point----i don't like the word "related" it does not give fact, it only alludes to it. Now i understand that there is conrovercy over this subject because of polotics. The USA, even though in the library of congress, will not mention this soft of thing because it does not want to inturrupt the good relations it has with Turkey. But i believe that this website, in being free and openly shared, should not be political. But rather state fact, or else the whole point of having an open shared and revied encyclopedia us useless. As Thomas Friedman says in his best selling book THE WORD IS FLAT, "The primary goal of the free soft ware movement [and such peer edited websites], however, is to getas many peole as possible writing, improving, and distributing software for free, out of convition that is will wmpower everyone and free idividuals from the grip of global corporations [that tend to biased]". Lets set the record strait and give fact. This website should not give into polotics. It is from places like this where information should truely be free of influence. If anyone whishes to elaborate on this will me...conatct me at: shagopian@mac.com

i would edit this page myself but i dont know how. thank you....and i do expect a responce on weather action will be taken upon this matter or not.

Hi. Yes, I learned the tour portion of WP:MUSIC the hard way. I hate that line. What constitutes a tour? Playing in two different clubs in two days? What constitutes a national tour? Do they have to play from one end of the country to the other? If they only do half the country, is that only a half-national tour? What is a medium-sized country? If they played a gig on one side of Malaysia and then played one on the other side of Malaysia the next day, they're in?! How about one that got me - if they're an opening act or a headliner of a tour? Some opening acts barely even get on posters in the concert venue where they're playing! They're still in? That criteria is so open-ended, I tend to ignore it except in the most obvious cases. —Wknight94 (talk) 16:48, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comments on my talk page. Comments on Afd[edit]

Hi. I saw you put another comment on Afd about there being more criteria on WP:BAND than two full-length albums. Is that just a reminder to people voting? If so, great. Or, are you saying there's something more I should put in the nom.? I didn't want to go line-by-line on WP:BAND stating why the band doesn't meet each and every one. If you notice, I always mention WP:BAND and even make it a link so people can see for themselves. Just making sure.  :) —Wknight94 (talk) 12:14, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good. Although I'm not sure how much feeling I can usually get for how popular a band is. If you know of other resources I can pull from to give a better argument for deletion (or to convince me that the band shouldn't be nominated in the first place), please let me know. blokkeerbeleid op nl:[edit]

Amino Acids[edit]

Hi Mgm! If found your userpage because you supported two of my recent chemistry-related featured picture candidates. Thank you for that! Speaking of pictures: I found "Amino Acids" on your to-do list and therefor suspect that you are knowledgeable about them. I recently created 3D-models of all 20 standard amino acids and put them on their respective pages. However, as I'm not a chemist, I have no way of knowing wether they are really correct. Could you have a look at them or forward this request to other people knowledgable about the topic, if you know any? I would appreciate any feedback! Cheers, Michael. Normally I would use {{notenglish}} for pages posted in languages other than English (see Erol güngör), but this page is worth of speedy delete in ANY language. Please see the comment made: non-English bio of nn person. So in response I say, please don't request translation of non-notable individuals. --Walter Görlitz 18:14, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't suggest that I didn't translate the article becuase I did, however in my translation there was no mention of publishing and the prize that was mentioned was not referenced and I did not recognize it so the article itself did not mkae any indicate of the poet's notability. I'm sorry if I made a snap decision based on the lack of information. Thanks for catching it and getting it translated. Now if only someone actually decided that he was important enough to list on another page. The only links are to our talk pages. Perhaps someone needs to create a Tomás Morales Poetry Prize winners page. Thanks again. --Walter Görlitz 23:25, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Mgm. I'm afraid I don't have any extra information on him, but I've done a little digging on the poetry prize. Tomás Morales is a relatively well-known Canarian poet (the only Canarian poet I've heard of, anyway). According to [2] the prize is one given out bienially by the Canarian museum named after him. Anyway, I left a note earlier on the original author's talk page (see User talk:Chav gecko asking him to provide a source, and this may make the notability clearer. --Nick Boalch ?!? 22:17, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is a notice I have put on User talk:Cool Cat following a complaint about his behavior on Talk:Kawaii.

Your edit in this diff shows that you have breached the arbitration decision by restructuring a talk page (remedy 4, "Coolcat prohibited from restructuring"). I've asked the person reporting this to notify the breach on WP:AN/I where action may be taken, including a block. If you persist, you will certainly be blocked, possibly by me. If things get out of hand I will completely ban you from editing the article and its talk page.
Please reconsider your obstructive and hostile approach toward others in the discussion on this page. I am patient, but I won't suffer any nonsense. --Tony Sidaway 19:03, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Eve Plumb[edit]

In the article, there are two paragraphs on her work in television (one on Jan Brady and one on other roles). This person has added two paragraphs on what she is doing now, what design board she got elected to in what city, what job she is performing, etc. Not only does it border on the mundane, it could also be bordering on an invasion of privacy on Ms. Plumb's part, because it's obviously somebody from her town, and I wouldn't think an actress who was known by millions of children in the 1970s would necessarily want all her fans knowing where she works and when. It all adds up to cruft and semi-stalker info. Mike H. That's hot 21:45, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's a very slow query, so I can't make it publically accessible (if very many people hit it, even accidentally, it would cause the toolserver's replication lag to grow). However, I can run it on request. Please see here for your results. The "namespace" number comes from here, with 0 being the article mainspace. I want to upload an image to the commons, it is a graph generated by data from a journal paper [3]. Can I do this? Do I need to ask permission from Goldenberg et al?

Ooops, I didn't leave my signature (hee heee). Sorry for that trouble. How would I go about supplying the fair use license for it? The drop down menu doesn't give me much. At Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags#Fair_use it says you can use {{Fair use in|Article}} as a license. -- Mac Davisญƛ. 10:02, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Snail FPC[edit]

Hi Mgm,

I have moved this conversation to here, as I don't want to see another hay bail FPC.

The reason I wanted a larger resolution, is that the shell could have better detail. At the moment, some of the indents and marking are running into each other, and it could be better.

"Besides, if they had one, wouldn't you think they would've posted the larger one instead?"

No, I had uploaded this image to an article I created. Someone put it through FPC, here, and most of the opposition was due to small resolution. Nobody asked me if I had a larger image (which I did), and I never saw it as a candidate. I personally wouldn't have supported either version, but that is not the point.

I agree with you, in that I don't particularly like these gigantic images. Many of them lose quality as they get larger (have a look at the Giant Tree Frog image that recently went through). But I don't think this would be the case with this photo. If you don't understand the reasoning behind a comment of mine, simply ask.--liquidGhoul 10:03, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I probably should have put that in the original posting, I just didn't think of it because I was supporting :). I will do that from now on. Thanks --liquidGhoul 10:17, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

why do you call this advertising?[edit]

hi MGM!

i will like to know why you think this project is adevertising? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_creation/2006-01-15#Planktum_Live_CD

it is an open source project and im the author of it so the text that appears in the page is mine and has no copyright problems whatsoever...

i wonder why other live cd's can have a page in wikipedia in mine not?

could you explain? could you help me understand why they deleted the page?

thanks Alejo 18:27, 29 March 2006 (UTC) /alejo[reply]

MGM wrote: The text you submitted tells how you plan to distribute the CD and asks users to improve it. When I mention promotion, the copyright isn't the problem. Wikipedia generally only includes CDs by already established artists (see WP:NMG) and not CDs that may or may not take off. Articles are also supposed to cite reports or coverage by 3rd party sources. I called it promotional because it appeared you were trying to get an audience through advertising the project on Wikipedia - see WP:NOT (especially the section Wikipedia is not a soapbox which covers self-promotion and advertising). Basically, it says it's inappropriate for people to articles in which they have a personal stake (like their projects or business). I've been a tad wordy, but I hope this clarifies things. - Mgm|(talk) 20:13, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Oke, thanks for your answer since im not sure if you will read this if i continue in my "My Talk" page i thought i could continue and finish here.

firstly the CD has 2 months out and already more than 74 persons have been using it (since some get it from the projects website and some other copy it from cd to cd)

this link proves that the project has already taken off: http://linux.softpedia.com/get/System/Operating-Systems/Linux-Distributions/Planktum-8681.shtml

when i wrote the text, in the part that invites users to improve it i meant giving feedback, not working on making it real. Just using it and letting know what they will like to change.

This project will soon have a version 2.0 and it was included in a activist art exhibition and will be included in a next one to come in NY.

I can include some user feedback that i have got already in the website forum.

Again thanks for you heads up, i will do change the way the article was written but could you help me find the write way to undelete it? Thats basically my problem since after calling it adevertising some others came judge copyright problems and in a second they deleted it, something i see as an abuse of power IMHO.

I dont think deleting the article was the right way to make it better. Thanks again and please let me know if i shall answer this in my "My Talk"

The only thing i dont agree with is that this LiveCD is not a music CD is a linux (Operative System) distribution so to have more than a 100 downloads in 2 months is a good synthom..lets dont call it it took off but why not allow the project to have a wikipedia page? If you tell me that you agree with the arguments that the people that deleted my page are right I will stop here and leave. I promise.

One other thing i cannot even find the page in my history :( and it was for few months created, certainly it neede editing but not deletion.
