Welcome to Esperanza![edit]

Welcome, MacGyverMagic, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is Stressbusters, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Natalya by email or talk page. Consider introducing yourself at the Esperanza talk page! Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

Interests[edit]

If you want to know my interests, you can go to User:Flarn2005/Interests. But the only articles I have ever created started out as stubs. I just don't have the time to write a full-fledged article. That's okay, isn't it? Many featured articles probably started out as stubs! 'FLaRN' (talk) 14:54, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, I just noticed you joined Esperanza. I'm a member too! 'FLaRN' (talk) 14:54, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph Mcmanners[edit]

I am a drama scholar at Tonbridge School also(4 years above him). So I met him at his audition and later saw that he had been awarded a scholarship.

reference desk answer[edit]

Hi! thank you for your answer on the computing reference desk. I would like to solve the issues with my computer but I don't know how to...maybe you can help me. my MSN messenger isn't working because of the popup window of 'MSN today' because as soon as it logs in and that window pops up, it logs off by itself... so my guess is that there's something avoiding the opening of that particular window, or womething like that... and now I use a really old version of it because it's the only one that will work, and it's because it doesn't have that 'MSN today' window popping up. I'd be really greateful if u could help me. by the way, I love your userpage, it's cool.--Cosmic girl 19:06, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page[edit]

You know about that box on my talk page that tells people not to cuss? Well for some reason the border and background color of it are invisible. Check it out here. 'FLaRN' (talk) 21:04, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It looks great. Thanks for the help! 'FLaRN' (talk) 22:18, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Updating DYK[edit]

Hello! I have noticed you updated the DYK - thanks for doing so and joining the group of admins who do so! I don't know whether you have done this before, but apart from selecting DYKs and putting them in the new template, there are also a few other things the updating admin should do - please see Template talk:Did you know#Instructions to admins. I feel kinda stupid to tell you about it, I am sure you knew it but you just were in a hurry. I hope you will find time for finishing this! Thanks again! Cheers, Bravada, talk - 21:52, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops, didn't notice. If you want an unconscious user, here's one. Bear with me please... Bravada, talk - 22:13, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re: travelsupermarket.com[edit]

I did not create any article called that.

Please retract your accusation :)

Favors[edit]

You've done me a lot of favors, so if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask--if I can, I will gladly return the favor. 'FLaRN' (talk) 00:30, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Smile[edit]

Updated DYK query On 30 August, 2006, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article In Dreams (2005 album), which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

"Countries I've Visited"[edit]

I'm very suprised that you saw my user page and liked it so much to ask me about it. It really makes me think that my chart was worthwhile :P. If you do decide to use this method, please credit me if you wouldn't mind. Thanks :).

Wikipedia:WikiProject Flag Template was my best resource for doing this project. They have the shortcut templates for individual flags, though none for a box like I have. But, I'm nice-ish, so I've made some instructions to make one of my boxes. Wikipedia:WikiProject Flag Template/Testall (careful, graphic-heavy) lists results of certain templates.

My best solution would be to create the following:

Countries I've visited Countries I want to go to International cities I've visited International cities I want to go to

<Visited>
<Put countries here using {{country_flagicon|1}}, where 1 is the three-letter country code, such as USA for the United States and CHN for China. If the template returns redlinks and non-existant flags, try another country code, or replace the country code with the full name of the country, such as "United Arab Emirates." Add linebreaks by using
, or by pressing ENTER twice. Arrange the flags in some neat pattern (such as 1-2-3-2-1), or just have a certain amount of flags per column.

<Unvisited>
<Same as above.>

<Visited>
<Put international cities here, wikilinked.>

<Unvisited>
<Same as above.>

States I've visited States I want to go to Major U.S. cities I've visited Major U.S. cities I want to go to

<Visited>
<Put U.S. states here using {{country_flagicon|1-2}}, where 1 is the three-letter country code, such as USA for the United States, and 2 is the two-letter state code, such as OH for Ohio. A finished template would look like: {{country_flagicon|USA-OH}}

<Unvisited>
<Same as left.>

<Unvisited>
<Wikilinked cities. Try to avoid redirects, if at all possible.>

<Visited>
<Same as left.>

Don't subst: the templates if you do decide to do it this way (like I did). It just makes a mess of your user page. You may be able to find an un-subst:ed version you would like to use.

Anyways, there is a real basic userbox you can use ({{User countries visited}}). There are many other forms of this floating around: Lar has a good one (but not as good as mine, but maybe I'm biased :P), found at User:Lar/States. SteveRwanda has an another alternate form at User:SteveRwanda/Countries visited.

Perhaps yet another option can be found at User:Sputnikcccp, which the description says: "Idea and layout stolen from User:Mdmanser inspired by User:Harro5, who took it from User:Salsb, who stole it from User:Guettarda who borrowed it from User:Coolcat, as seen on User:Mdmanser's page."

A final option if you don't like any of the options presented above, would be to perform a Google search for "site:en.wikipedia.org countries visited User:" Results of search found here.

So that's basically about it. I've probably given you more than you want or need to know, but better too much, than too little, right? If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka Talk to me! 01:58, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk[edit]

Here we go: [1]. You are now an official clerk. Thank you so much for volunteering. Any of the arbitrators, and certainly Tony Sidaway, can answer any questions you have along the way. :-) Dmcdevit·t 06:00, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There, five cases with a motion to close, and two more to open sometime soon, and an open motion with only one more vote needed. Now you have something to work on. Dmcdevit·t 17:26, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vx Rangers[edit]

You speedied this sight, which is appreciated, but the AfD for it was left open. Would you mind closing it? Thanks! Akradecki 12:57, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You may find this useful. --Tony Sidaway 21:15, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As new clerks I'm sure you're eager to get to work. I've summarised the current status of Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration at Wikipedia:Arbitration_Committee/Clerks/Administration#Pending_cases. --Tony Sidaway 16:53, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I replied to your question here. Dmcdevit·t 21:23, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
A note of appreciation from me. Thanks for taking the responsibility and especially thanks for checking for arbitrators' opinions on procedure. We should probably do this more often.. --Tony Sidaway 05:25, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • why did you delete Funkitron's page?
  • I did not see the deletion talk of the company I wrote about, and was unable to defend it at the time. I was surprised to find it deleted.
  • How can I help it not be deleted?

funkitron help[edit]

my funkitron page i wrote keeps on getting deleted.

i don't think it merits this treatment as other people have written about noteable independent game developers.

any help is welcome.

Yes, i am dave635. I followed your suggestions, rewrote things, made it similar to other companies in the space and still, it gets deleted.

I'm not sure I understand why something I write gets deleted so easily. I mean, what is the purpose of the wiki if I write something that fits within what is written on others, and it gets deleted.

I am sorry to see how wiki can break down, as I have been a fan of it for a long time.

Cœur[edit]

Hi there. Its not that the username is offensive (far from it) but rather it isnt comprised of latin characters (a-z, 0-9) and as such can pose a problem for some browsers. I am sure some other administrators will feel otherwise and so I see no reason not to unblock him, but it is certainly preferable that he/she chooses a username we can just type in to our keyboards. Thanks - Glen 11:32, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely. Would you like me to take care of that? - Glen 11:35, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No I dont think there is a template for granting unblock requests actually! Perhaps I should throw one together :) Thanks Mgm :) - Glen 12:19, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Nice, thanks. Haha, about 5 seconds ago I blocked yet another user - not sure why I blocked this guy however! :) - Glen 12:24, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Picture copyright[edit]

Yes thank you very much. However, apparently the "copyright and terms of use" link is not working, so I don't have any chance to ask for a permission. Oh well, I will keep trying. Thank you again. Take care -- Imoeng 11:11, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, could you check this and tell me what you think? Please... Cheers :) Imoeng 11:13, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh well, sometimes things like this could be very frustrating. But I've just sent an email to them, using Wikipedia Boilerplate on letter samples. Thanks very much! Imoeng 11:20, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
