WikiProject Articles for creation Backlog Elimination Drive News!

We are nine days away from the end of the drive, and it's been fantastic! Many, many, many days of backlog have been tackled, and over 1500 articles reviewed!

To start off, a HUGE THANKS to everyone who helped out with the coordination of the drive, and actually fighting the backlog in the drive itself. Everyone's done a great job helping out, no matter how many articles you've reviewed/

Remember to update your running total, on the drive page. This is the ONLY way that I will be able to give out awards appropriately.

Lastly, I will be giving out awards on August 16th. Anyone who could help me, that would be fantastic. Contact me on my talk page if you'd like to volunteer.

Great job, everyone! This Drive has been fantastic, and I'm sure that some members of the Project have definitely made friends by collaborating on the talk pages. Thanks,
GrooveDog.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:House of Strahd lr.JPG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:House of Strahd lr.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 23:19, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem - userfied to User:Maelwys/List of Charmed good beings. I note the copyright on the page at http://www.thecharmedones.co.uk/Pages/Goodbeings/default.asp is 2003, and this page was started in 2004 (first edit - [1]). Even then, it was pretty much word for word. That being said, I can't find anything in the Internet Archive to support it - thecharmedones.co.uk was created in 2003, but can't see links to the Goodbeings and Evilbeings pages. It is possible that it was copied from Wikipedia, and not the other way around. Neil  13:36, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh dear. Hopefully this will resolve itself, though; at least now the problem has been identified, it can be resolved. You may want to ask the regulars on Talk:Charmed for assistance, as fixing this and List of Charmed evil beings is a fairly big job. No problems with the List of Charmed good beings article being moved back into article space once the copyvios have been fixed. Neil  10:49, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I just discovered the List of Charmed Evil beings on Wikipedia:Copyright problems and also saw the other copyvio article on your userpage. I deleted both the articles, even in userspace copyvio's are not allowed. Besides, both articles were copyvio's from start, it's better to start from scratch. Racial diversity got deleted by some racists, someone should add this to the article

[edit]

The show's producers pride themselves on the fact that they used a "blind-casting" technique, [citation needed] resulting in a racially diverse cast. The writers carefully chose the specialty of each doctor as an important analogy to their character and foreshadowing of their development, which adds a layer of complexity to the show. [citation needed]

This show has one Asian female actor - Sandra Oh, as a physician which is considered to be quite a change. Because most of the time, Asian actors are only given roles of nurses, medical students, etc; even though there are large amount of Asian physicians in the US. According to the 2002 census, there are 8.6% physicians are Asian Americans, only 2.4% physicians are African American. [1] For example, NBC's TV series ER which started in 1994, it has hired many Caucasian and Black actors. The only Asian female actor Ming-na only lasted for a short time. In the year of 2007, ER has never had any Asian male actors as doctors.

Further, the Asian female doctor - Dr. Cristina Yang was in love with a black doctor in this show, this kind of Asian-Black love relationship is quite rare in any TV shows or movies, even in the year of 2007.[citation needed]

I take offense to being labelled a racist, some of my best friends are Asian Canadians. I'm simply trying to enforce WP:OR and WP:V. --Maelwys 02:14, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

House: Frist Campus Center

[edit]

Y'know. You didn;t actually correct the spelling from "first Campus center" to "frist Campus center". Confused the hell out of me and other people. It's been fixed now.--Dr who1975 14:59, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, sorry about that. I noticed it after you corrected it, apparently I didn't quite revert back far enough. Thanks for fixing it. --Maelwys 18:16, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The move tool

[edit]

Thanks for your message. Where is the move tool you told me to use next time? Steelbeard1 19:41, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Air Farce Live

[edit]

Also, now that Air Farce Live is a TV series, it has much, much more weight than the comedy album the name is attached to. Can you use the move tool since you know how to use it? Steelbeard1 19:43, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, I'm planning on it. I just have to wait for an admin to remove the extra pages and then it'll be all done. --Maelwys 19:59, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect of Municipal Wi-Fi

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Municipal Wi-Fi, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Municipal Wi-Fi is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Municipal Wi-Fi, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. ER and Grey's Anatomy semi-protected

[edit]

For 24 hours, in the hopes that the IP will disappear again. I've added both of them and will, tomorrow morning, watch to see if they pick up right again. --Thespian 13:15, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Pickering_Airport.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Pickering_Airport.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:06, 7 November 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jusjih 04:06, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for Image:Pickering_Airport.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Pickering_Airport.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jusjih 01:53, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
