Managing a conflict of interest

Hello, MalcolmMD. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Spotify, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

• avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
• instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);

• avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. I have seen (presumably) your post on the Spotify forum, which is also the source/reference that you provided. This definitely constitutes a COI because of your direct involvement in this. I would not tag you with an improper citation notice, but would like to say that beyond your COI, the source you provided is not a credible one. Zamaster4536 (talk) 12:44, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

I would be replying to this page regarding your edits on Spotify. Feel free to reply on my talk page. I would say that the source you are currently using is a biased source. Generally, user-generated content is not used as a reliable source. The idea page on the Spotify community forums, including the votes, are generated by users. You can see WP:UGC for more information on this. Because of the unreliability of the source, I do not believe it is good for the article to have a section based purely on this. I would be reverting your edit once more, removing such information. If you can, however, you can include sources such as articles from a credible news agency with regards to this matter. Regarding your COI, I would say that since (still presumably, you haven't cleared this up) you have made a post on the forums, contributing to this cause, this would directly connect you to this issue, creating a COI here on Wikipedia.
