#WikiWordathon

[edit]

Awesome initiative! Keep up the good work, don't worry too much about formatting and style (but DO supply valid references for information, preferably from third party websites unaffiliated with the subject of the article). I will tidy up the edits after you, just have a look see at Mxolisi Nxasana in a while and you'll see how I've formatted the page. Great work! If yo uneed any help just click on my name at the endof this sentence and it'll direct you to my "talk page" which you can edit like any other article to leave me a question. Speedy deletion nomination of Mxolisi Nxasana

[edit]

Hello MandyWiener,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Mxolisi Nxasana for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Runarb (talk) 08:47, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi Mandy. Just to add to Runarb's point above, please don't copy-paste from other websites for Wikipedia articles. These are copyright violations and will be deleted. I have gone over and edited Mxolisi Nxasana and Riah Phiyega but to be honest they are still violations in their current form. If you have time, please go back and rewrite the articles in your own words in order to remove the doubts over copyright infringement. I believe #WikiWordathon is a brilliant and worthy initiative, but it needs to be tempered to prevent these kind of problems cropping up. Despite the public perception, Wikipedia isn't a free-for-all, there are diligent editors who monitor for non-notable additions, copyright violations and just outright vandalism. Happy to help if you need it, just let me know. Regards, Zunaid 09:24, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New to Wikipedia?

[edit]

Mandy, great to see you here, I follow you on Twitter. One has to be a little careful regarding copyright, even if you wrote it yourself :)

Feel free to contact me if you have questions - I don't stop in every day, but will be happy to help.

Have fun editing - very happy to see you here. Wizzy 14:06, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
