April 2007[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Unfortunately, an article you recently created, S.g. frazier, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for new articles, so it will shortly be removed (if it hasn't been already). Please use the sandbox for any tests you may want to do and please read our introduction page to learn more about contributing. Thank you. Grika 02:04, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices, as you did with S.g. frazier. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion. Thank you.--FreeKresge 02:34, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. I am new to Wiki. Mantaka 02:39, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article S.g. frazier has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Wait till his book comes out. NawlinWiki 03:20, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Au_logo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Au_logo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 10:23, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings. I just got approval sent to the permissions email for that Fairbanks Arts Association article I was trying to post. Do you receive those? Or how do i get that article released? User:Mantaka

If you have received written permission to use the materials, the forward the permission to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a post it to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Fairbanks arts association (copied from above). However, if you rewrite it in your own words that removed the issue anyway.
One other thing you will need to do is to find a secondary source i.e a newspaper article to show how the subject is notable. Once the notability is established, then primary sources i.e the association web site can be used to fill out the article, with appropriate citations. If you can deal with the permission/copyright issue first, then I'll help with the rest later on. Kevin 23:16, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The last revision did put the information into my own words. The permission from the organization was sent in just to confirm that I could use the information. In terms of secondary sources I have come across the following

http://newsminer.com/wp-content/themes/fdnm/single-print.php?post=2149
http://newsminer.com/2007/02/27/5551
Does that help my cause any? G
Yes, any coverage of the subject independent of the source is good. I haven't done anything with the copyright notice because I am not an administrator, and haven't read up on non-admins closing copyright issues yet. If you have the permission then it's still a good idea to send it in. Kevin 23:52, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kevin, how do I get an Admin to review the article? I've posted on the Talk area of the article as instructed. Is there anything more to be done? G

Theres nothing more for you to do right now. An admin will have a look within a few days most likely. I'll add your citations to the temp article when I get a chance, and I'll see if I can close out the issue myself. Kevin 00:29, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Appreciate it. Thx 4 all the help. It's got to get old sussing out things for the noobs. Thx again for all your help. G

I've had a look at the links you gave, and I've also done an archive search at the Anchorage Daily Times and most of the other major US newspapers and I couldn't find an article where the Fairbanks Arts Association was the subject of the article, rather that just being mentioned in passing. The links you gave didn't have the association as the subject, which is what is required to show notability. I have done some minor improvements to the temp article, so when an admin looks at it we'll have a 3rd opinion. Cheers Kevin 04:01, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Fbxarts logo rev.svg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Fbxarts logo rev.svg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:07, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
