Duplicate images uploaded

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Song Seung Hun.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Pic06-1.jpg. The copy called Image:Pic06-1.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 10:44, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Song Seung Hun.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Song Seung Hun.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:38, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Chuwit.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Chuwit.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 13:06, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thai instruments

[edit]

Good job. Maybe you can help take photos of these. In the talk page of each new instrument article, you can put the following tags: {{WPMUSINST}} and {{WPSEASIA}}. Badagnani (talk) 05:11, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You found one! I will help with anything. I study Thai music in the U.S. You can upload photos at commons.wikimedia.org so they can be used by the Wikipedia of any language. Register at commons.wikimedia.org, then I'll show you what license to use. They are photos you took yourself? Do you play traditional Thai instruments? Badagnani (talk) 05:41, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Userboxes

[edit]

Here are two language boxes for you. If they match your skill in these languages, you can put them on your user page so other editors know which languages you know. If you know more English (i.e., level 2 or more), you can change the level.

Badagnani (talk) 05:44, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nice to meet you. I've played saw u, jakhe, khong wong lek, khaen, khlui, drums and percussion, and singing. I was in the tour of the first farangs that came to Thailand to tour the whole country in 1998; maybe you heard of us. Badagnani (talk) 05:53, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You pick which level is the level you read/write English, from 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (or without number means you're a native speaker, like the box I gave you for Thai).

Here are all the possibilities for English; just pick the one that fits your level of English, so other editors will know.

Badagnani (talk) 06:01, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Once you find the correct boxes, you can add them to your user page (there's nothing there now). Badagnani (talk) 06:06, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 06:09, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings

[edit]

It's nice to meet you. Unfortunately I seem to have insomnia tonight and was looking at newly created pages when I saw your edits. I'm sorry if I made you feel not welcome by nominating your edits for deletion. With rewording, they are very welcome additions to Wikipedia. If you need any help, feel free to ask (most Wikipedia editors are glad to help newcomers). As for your medical studies, I am but a lowly first-year student and can't offer much help with those! All the best, (EhJJ)TALK 06:38, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I recommend that all sizes of khlui be discussed on a single article: Khlui. Badagnani (talk) 18:17, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Template

[edit]

What a beautiful template and photo! You figured out Wikipedia so quickly? Quite impressive. Badagnani (talk) 18:18, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know about Dreamweaver. I think you are more advanced than I about this. What do you mean about how I knew how to edit pages? I just learned gradually. I think you learned quickly. What specific things do you want to know? Badagnani (talk) 02:26, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are invited to join Wikipedia:WikiProject Thailand. Badagnani (talk) 07:03, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do I what? No, never any money, ever. It's for the benefit of humans everywhere. Badagnani (talk) 17:24, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see what you're saying. I have a watchlist so I can watch pages I'm interested in. This is how you do it. Find any Wikipedia article you like. Then go to the top right and click "Watch." To look at the pages you're watching, click "My watchlist", also on the top right. That way, you can make sure nobody is changing those pages in a bad way, and if they do, you can fix it. Badagnani (talk) 17:33, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One more way: to watch what someone is editing, go to any page they edited and click "History" on the top. Then you click "contribs" next to the user's name, and you'll see all the pages they are editing. Badagnani (talk) 17:35, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Romanization note

[edit]

One note about romanization of words like "glong" or "khong": you are using "o" for these, but also using "o" for the vowel in "thon." However, these are different vowels อ ("aw" sound in English) and โ ("o" sound in English), so I think they should be represented differently. The problem is, "glong" is used more than "glawng," even though the second one is really how this word sounds. Badagnani (talk) 17:39, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In the case of "ranat," it's usually spelled with a final "t," because is usually shown as a "D" but as a "T" at the end of a word. Badagnani (talk) 17:48, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See my photo here. Does it look like pi chenai? The name is almost the same, too. By the way, I also play pi Mon and pi nai. Badagnani (talk) 17:47, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnomusicologist. I teach and research world music. I was a student of Ajan Panya Roongruang of Kasetsart University, when he taught in the U.S. Badagnani (talk) 17:56, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki

[edit]

Wiki is quick and comfortable already, thanks to the genius of the developers of the software. What do you want to make better?

To sign your posts, just add four tildes after your post, before you click "Save page": ~~~~. Badagnani (talk) 18:07, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see you already knew about the four tildes. If there's anything that makes things quicker, I don't know about them. However, there is something called a "bot" (short for a robot), which only a few editors know how to do, to do a lot of edits at one time. For example, I just made a request for them to add the WPTHAILAND template to all the Thailand-related pages. There are hundreds of them, so it's easier that way. But only a few editors can do it. Badagnani (talk) 18:08, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The template is Template:WikiProject Thailand, which goes along with Wikipedia:WikiProject Thailand. It should be on all talk pages of all Thailand-related articles so we can keep track of them and improve them in an organized way. If you go to any Cambodia-related article, for example (just find any one), you'll see that the discussion pages all have the WPCAMBODIA template. Badagnani (talk) 18:24, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Here's a challenge: get a photo of a Ranat kaeo. You might have to find the Fong Naam people, because I think they're the only ones who use it. Badagnani (talk) 18:58, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am a sir. Badagnani (talk) 19:02, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, you found it. OK, now we need a photo of Ching. Badagnani (talk) 23:23, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ranat

[edit]

It didn't change because you can't have a redirect going to two different places, just one. I have fixed it. By the way, there's such a thing as a bamboo-key ranat ek, right? I think I've seen one. I put something about that. Badagnani (talk) 03:22, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Photo

[edit]

Did you travel back in time before your birth to the 1960s to take Image:Mahori.jpg? Badagnani (talk) 03:51, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm just referring to the fact that the photo says "made by myself." Just letting you know, it's not a good idea, because of the rules. Badagnani (talk) 03:59, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are right. I often request people at Flickr to let us use their photos (usually they're really happy to do that), and also take some myself. But you're in the heart of Thai music, so if you have a camera, you could take some good ones. Badagnani (talk) 04:10, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can see my uploads here. I took some of them, and some I got permission from Flickr photographers. Badagnani (talk) 04:12, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh you are so grateful! It's really so busy if find photo->request->when say yes->upload->content photo->edit content. wow! Manzzzz(talk) 04:23, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ranat bars

[edit]

Isn't it true that in some rare cases the ranat ek can have bamboo bars? I think I've seen one of those. I added it to the article. Badagnani (talk) 05:43, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm telling you I think I've seen an old ranat ek with bamboo keys. I was told it was a fairly rare thing. At the same time, I've seen ranat thums that were bamboo and ones that were hardwood. You should add the name of the wood to the articles; do you know the species (Latin name) of it? Badagnani (talk) 05:51, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This would need a source. Once finding the source(s), you can post a request on that page's discussion page. Badagnani (talk) 06:36, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Two photos

[edit]

Hello, someone is trying to remove the photo of the khong wong lek because it appears to be an exact duplicate of the khong wong yai photo. You didn't upload two of the same photos, saying that one was a khong wong yai and the other was a khong wong lek, did you? I looked at the photos and they do appear to be the very same photo of the same instrument. Can you please fix this situation? It's causing a lot of confusion. Thanks, Badagnani (talk) 00:55, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Manz, I saw your creation of the article Thai dessert. I see that it looks like you copied a lot of text out of the Thai cuisine article, and I was thinking of turning it into a redirect to the "Desserts and sweet snacks" section of that article. I just wanted to check with you first; do you plan on expanding the article a lot? Otherwise, I'd think it's probably better as a redirect. What do you think? Writ Keeper 05:12, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, given the deletion request below, I've decided to go ahead and make it a redirect (declining the deletion nom in the process). Thanks! Writ Keeper 05:21, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Thai dessert

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Thai dessert. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thai_cuisine#Desserts.2C_sweet_snacks_and_drinks. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thai_cuisine#Desserts.2C_sweet_snacks_and_drinks - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Mr. Vernon (talk) 05:18, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Article Feedback deployment

[edit]

Hey Manzzzz; I'm dropping you this note because you've used the article feedback tool in the last month or so. On Thursday and Friday the tool will be down for a major deployment; it should be up by Saturday, failing anything going wrong, and by Monday if something does :). Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 23:25, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Linking headings

[edit]

Hello, Manzzzz. I reverted you here because, like I stated in that edit summary, we are not supposed to link headings in the Wikipedia articles. See Manual of Style. Linking them on the talk pages is fine, however. Flyer22 (talk) 03:35, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

List of pornographic video sharing

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. A page you recently created, List of pornographic video sharing, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for new pages, so it will be removed shortly (if it hasn't been already). Please use the sandbox for any tests, and consider using the Article Wizard. For more information about creating articles, you may want to read Your first article. You may also want to read our introduction page to learn more about contributing. Thank you. NawlinWiki (talk) 23:56, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(Talk page stalker) It doesn't look to me as if List of Pornographic video sharing websites (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) satisfies WP:LISTN. Therefore, it's likely to be deleted. -- Trevj (talk) 10:03, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi and thanks for your note on my talk page. Did you follow any of those links? The explanations they give seem to indicate that the list probably fails the encyclopedia's notability criteria. Incidentally, I think that a more appropriate place for this discussion would be at Talk:List of Pornographic video sharing websites. Is that helpful? -- Trevj (talk) 11:27, 8 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article List of pornographic video-sharing websites is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of pornographic video-sharing websites until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. -- Trevj (talk · contribs) 20:21, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Chakhe/krapeu

[edit]

Hello Manzzzz,

as the creator or main contributor to the article Chakhe, I would like to invite you to participate in this discussion: Talk:Chakhe#Same instrument? about the question whether or not Thai Chakhe and Cambodian Krapeu are actually the same instrument and the two articles should be merged.
