License tagging for Image:Strippenkaart resized.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Strippenkaart resized.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 17:09, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

PAN?

[edit]

Hiya MapsMan,

saw your edits. Are you gonna write an article on PAN?--Ling.Nut 03:04, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just an idea...

[edit]

How about linking the flags on your page directly to the countries/regions. Is this even possible? - 2006-11-01T16:33:56 User:Anskas

Nice idea - I've thought about it myself, but alas, it seems impossible - MapsMan 16:36, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Have you seen...

Haxo

[edit]

Hi!

Thanks for your work too :)

If you want, take a look at the other Paris ghost stations :p

Especially for your maps (I'm a terrible drawer) :p

Some remarks:

I think you should add more names on the map, it's difficult to locate if you don't know well the Paris metro, since the shape of the 7bis end changes a lot, same with color/line name.

I saw you enhanced my photos on commons, usually when doing this you just overwrite the picture (uploading over it with a comment saying what you did and confirming) and not making new ones, otherwise commons admins could think they are duplicates and delete one, and you loose description and history. In case of error or disagreement it can still be reverted...

Also, there's seems to be no ghost stations main category on commons, so Paris ones are just attached to Paris metro... There seems to be a good London Underground tree, but I don't know if there's any ghost stations in it... Maybe time to make a new main category?

If you need help, don't hesitate!

Regards,

Gonioul 21:50, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I said you should upload your enhanced pictures over mine, not delete mine and keep yours...
This is needed in order to keep history, sometimes some people make better enhancements from original later... That's why I uploaded unaltered pictures (except scaling), because I knew I couldn't enhanced them properly...

Adieu?
I didn't figured I was this rude... :p
Gonioul 00:44, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Is "adieu" rude? Thought it was similar to "adios" in Spanish... just quicker than writing "au revoir"
Adieu means I don't wan't to see/talk to you again... :p (A Dieu)
Can I count on you for maps of other Paris ghost station, or should I make ugly ones myself? :p
Gonioul 00:58, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I will have to avoid using "adieu", then! :p
Yes to the maps - that sounds interesting!
MapsMan 01:01, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have a Quail map on Paris métro, unfortunately they're under copyright and can't be used, but it can be a good hint (although not always accurate)...
Gonioul 01:07, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I was planning to simply use Image:Paris Metro map.gif as it is already on Wikipedia. What is a Quail map? Is that published by RATP?
MapsMan 01:09, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, i see now! Good old Google! — MapsMan 01:11, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Quail Map
Somebody has a good GPS/gyroscope :p
I don't know where commons maps come from... ask Metropolitan...
Gonioul 01:14, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah about Haxo naming, some passer-by figured out naming without looking at other stations...
Reverted it...

Re your rude, impolite message

[edit]

Starting your message with "Stop moving..." as if I've done this in the past or been told not to do it is extremely impolite. I'm currently carrying out the tedious work of moving all the Métro station articles, in line with the spelling of the Paris Métro article itself. If you think it should be Metro not Métro, move the Paris Métro article to Paris Metro. I suspect you won't meet with much support. Please don't address other editors so rudely. Thanks. Metro Mover 23:09, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OI!!!

[edit]

Look here. Don't blank other people's talk pages. Who on earth do you think you are? Sorry to now be the one being rude but... how dare you! Metro Mover 23:10, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Look , OK, an apology from my side - but what did you expect? You tell me off when I've done nothing wrong. Then, instead of having the good grace to apologize you start blanking my talk page. Anyway, I'd like to draw a line under it and get on with the work here. Metro Mover 23:17, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summary

[edit]

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Why did you not block this guy? — MapsMan 18:47, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He'd only edited three times in the last three weeks and only once today. There's no point blocking someone for a day when they only edit once per day. He also hadn't received a {{test4}} in a very long time. —Wknight94 (talk) 18:53, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About 209.234.136.67 and 152.157.174.66

[edit]

Generally, that page (Long term) isn't for IP addresses, since you can get a much better result by reporting them to WP:ABREP, especially the ones that are really schools. Also, if you want a someone on a vandalism spree blocked, try WP:AIV after they've been warned. 68.39.174.238 21:32, 28 November 2006 (UTC) PS. Both the addrs have been blocked for their vandalisms for various lengths of time.[reply]

classical composition stubs

[edit]

Thanks for catching me. I was going through changing music-stub's to classical-comp-stubs and I forgot the more specific stub was just for compositions and not for classical related articles in general. I reverted my mis-edits. DavidRF 00:12, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, orchestra stub is cool. Again thanks for catching me! DavidRF 00:14, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Templates

[edit]

Hi there!, sorry; I did not realise that you were not allowed to delete messages on your talk page, anyway sorry about that! from now on I'll do as you said on talk pages; but does this also apply if you are applying a VW template or any other template to a talk page? I hope you have a Happy New Year and enjoy 2007! Thank you for your friendly advice and patience because even though I've been at Wikipedia for seven months I still do not know everything (I dont know anyone who does!); anyway cheers!

Respectfully.....TellyaddictTalk 19:58, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: edit to A12 road (dab Ipswich -> Ipswich, England)

[edit]

I thought it was bad form to change a link to point to a redirect (Ipswich, England redirects Ipswich) -- just thought I'd bring this to your attention, in case it was a robot gone wrong? -- Ratarsed 14:25, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I do apologise - I instinctively just put Ipswich as the link when I created the route box, but I noticed that elsewhere on the article it was linked as Ipswich, England, so without checking, I assumed that that was the correct article link. Thanks for pointing out my mistake — MapsMan [ talk | cont ]19:50, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
