Semi-retired

Hello again. Congrats on your latest FAC promotion. Apologies if this comes across as intrusive, but I have noticed that you have put the semi-retired template on your talk page, and I just wanted to reach out to make sure everything was okay. Aoba47 (talk) 21:42, 6 April 2023 (UTC)

Thank you for checking, Aoba47! Everything is fine on the real life/health front. I'm just having a knee-jerk reaction to my new nomination not doing as well as the last one. It is also difficult to cope with watching five music FACs nominated at the same time when I had gatekept this as a somewhat unique achievement in my head over the past few years. Anyways, hopefully I'll regain inspiration and this will just be a phase. I guess I am starting to understand what felt when they decided to quit, lol.--NØ 03:02, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for the response. I am glad that you are doing well. I can completely understand that, and it is a fair response. It is possible in some sense that your past music FACs have inspired other editors or helped to ope the door to make them more acceptable in that space. Just to put a more positive spin on it. I do think the FAC space has changed over the years, but I am not exactly sure how to explain it.
On a somewhat related tangent, I always get disappointed and discouraged whenever I see editors put down work on entertainment-based articles because at the end of the day, Wikipedia is a volunteer service and we should respect what other editors are interested in and the time and energy they put into the site. To me, it is such a weird thing to be outraged about since Wikipedia is such a large place that no one is being forced to look at topics they do not enjoy.
Anyways, I hope you do get inspired again in the future, but if not, you have done a lot of work on here that you should be proud of. Breaks can be very important to figure this out and sometimes, it is necessary to walk away and let things go (but not saying you have to). I have been less inspired lately as well, but for me, it is more so trying to put more focus on off-Wiki activities. I do miss HĐ, and I hope that he is happy and proud of the work still being done on the Swift articles. Aoba47 (talk) 15:27, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
Honestly, it's really great to even be able to share this with someone. This is something I have been feeling for a while. Thanks for hearing me out and not being judgemental. I believe you have retired a few times as well after frustrations at FAC so I really appreciate you sharing your perspectives on this. Obviously, I can't ask other people to stop submitting FACs so I am just going to have to deal with it. I think another weird thing is how editors who are clearly influenced by me would rather ignore my FAC nominations and pretend I don't exist. I remember when I was starting out, I always made it a point to acknowledge you and HĐ as my influences, lol. Anyways, this rant is starting to sound like a Nicki Minaj tweet so I'll stop now. Hope you are having a great weekend!--NØ 06:35, 8 April 2023 (UTC)
You are all good. I think it is important to share these kinds of things, and it is much than keeping them bottled up. I probably have annoyed a lot people by going back and forth with retirement over the years. I appreciated that you have listed me as an influence in the past, and it was very humbling since it was and still is difficult to see such impact on this kind of platform. HĐ was a very solid editor who I believe still impacts a lot of editors on here through their work.
I can understand your feelings regarding this, and although I am sure your work has influenced other as well, I can understand feeling a certain way if it is not brought forward to you directly. I hope you are having a great weekend as well! I am still trying to balance out my schedule and time management. I know I have been saying that on here for years so here's hoping it finally connects (with work on my part of course). I have passed your FAC source review by the way. I thought it would help you a lot to get that done early in the nomination process, but I will likely take an extended break from reviews so apologies in advance for not getting to any future nominations if you choose to do more. Hey Adam, love the poem, lol. The music video for this song did premiere on Candy Crush Saga. I initially found it odd too but whatever strategy they used for this song clearly worked, so I'm not mad in retrospect.--NØ 07:07, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
Fair enough. Not something I've ever heard about anyone else doing. Might have to mention that - get a photo of Trainor and mention that in the caption. That's a hell of a DYK hook. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.2% of all FPs. Currently celebrating his 600th FP! 17:00, 13 April 2023 (UTC)

"lips are movin"

MaranoFan, i had a question regarding this article and the associated blurb. the statement that the music video for this song is "the first [music video] created entirely by social media influencers" appears to be a rather bold claim that i admittedly find hard to believe. for example, i would assume that the self-made music videos by laina that predate "lips are movin" would be considered earlier music videos created entirely by a social media influencer. i noticed that the cited billboard source hedges the statement by reporting that trainor's video is "billed as the first-ever music video to be created entirely by social influencers".

i presume that, if the claim is actually true, a very specific definition of "music video" is being used. furthermore, since philip andelman is singled out in the blurb as the music video's director, and the wikipedia article on him appears to mention nothing that would lead me to believe that he could be credibly called a social media influencer, the claim would also appear to need to use a very specific definition of "created" that would not include directors amongst the creators of a music video. in addition, wikipedia's own definition of "music video" appears to be rather inclusive, so i think that if we are going to be presenting this claim in wikivoice, we should be qualifying the statement appropriately, and i admittedly do not know what qualifications would be necessary.

instead, would you be amenable to simply replacing "the first created entirely by social media influencers" with "said to be the first created entirely by social media influencers" or something similar? dying (talk) 14:01, 2 April 2023 (UTC)

my story today

Thank you today for the article, "about Meghan Trainor's second single "Lips Are Movin", which she wrote within eight minutes. Almost every critic that reviewed it compared this song to Trainor's debut single, and its release made Trainor the fifth female artist in Billboard Hot 100 history to follow her debut number-one single directly with a second top-five. Additionally, it is noteworthy as the first-ever music video made entirely by social media influencers."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:44, 4 April 2023 (UTC)

New "I Drink Wine" coverage

Hello again. I am sure you are already aware of this, but Adele has performed "I Drink Wine" on James Corden's Carpool Karaoke, and there has been some renewed coverage on it. An IP user has added some information to the article with this edit, although they did not add any additional coverage to support this in the article. DYK for Takin' It Back

On 4 May 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Takin' It Back, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that an earlier title going viral on TikTok prompted Meghan Trainor to take it back to doo-wop, which made them look again? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Takin' It Back. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Takin' It Back), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Meghan Trainor

Hello again! Sorry for the super random message, but for whatever reason while I was reviewing Takin' It Back, I was reminded of "With You" and how much that I enjoyed it. It is interesting to look back on the brief moment that Trainor had more dance-oriented music.

I know in the past I said "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" was my favorite Trainor song, but in retrospect, I think my favorite is really "Wave". The lyrics just really connected with me, the production was fun and different for her, and I still think it is a shame it never really took off. I fully get why Trainor returned to her doo-wop sound, and while it is not for me, I also fully get why she focused her career more on TikTok, but I wish she had experimented more with electronic music.

Your FAC also reminded me of Trainor's song from Songland and that show in general. That show has seemingly been forgotten by everyone, which is a shame since a show highlighting songwriters was such a great idea on paper. Just thought it was interesting how many random memories a FAC could bring back lol. I just felt like sharing that with you. Aoba47 (talk) 18:15, 16 May 2023 (UTC)

Hey, Aoba47! Honestly, I think the music Trainor was releasing during the Treat Myself and album delay era was some of her best. The song from Songland was called "Hurt Me", and that was one of my favorites too. I often think about how "Let You Be Right" predicted the disco revival that happened earlier this decade. It is a shame the commercial underperformance probably scared her away from doing that sound again. I haven't even tried to think about bringing Treat Myself to FAC because of how much that article depends on less reputed sources, lol.--NØ 21:28, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
I could see your point about "Let You Be Right". It has a great production that I think would have been better appreciated if done with a different artist. I've seen a lot of people say that Trainor does the same song over and over again, and I think this era does show her versatility. "Nice to Meet Ya" was another example of her doing something slightly different and The Love Train has a solid mixture of styles.
I understand your concerns with sourcing with the FAC process, and I have been there before. Even with sources I know are considered high-quality, it is a concern in the back of my mind. I hope this is okay to ask, but do you have any articles in mind for future FACs? I've seen your work on "Mother", and I was curious if that would be in the FAC pipeline? Aoba47 (talk) 22:24, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
I think it's tough to predict my future with regard to FAs. Unfortunately, the whole FA process gives me a negative vibe nowadays. I feel a little too overexposed there, like Taylor Swift in her Reputation era or something, lol. I feel like some people want me to disappear from there like Swift disappeared from the public eye back then. I may start writing about UFOs or something to escape the politics of contributing to music FAs altogether. But it is very tempting to complete these featured/good topic series once you get started!--NØ 23:09, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
I would encourage you to pursue whatever would make you the most comfortable and happy. I know that is really cliché and obvious, but you should put yourself first. I always find breaks helpful. I am not the best at taking them, particularly on Wikipedia, but in the long run, it is sometimes best to pull back for a bit. Not saying you have to do that. More so just saying that it is understandable and valid. Aoba47 (talk) 23:41, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
I have struck the words about inferring "moaning" to be a personal attack on me as this is not stated explicitly. Will you do the same for your lie about my purported "wish to withdraw from the review process" and aspersions on Gog's talk page about how I am somehow in a Four Award rivalry with you? Heartfox (talk) 18:49, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
Dear Heartfox
You can remove the comment altogether, since no one has replied to it. The "My Man" peer review has nothing to do with the Takin' It Back FAC, and if you had an issue with my comments on the former you should have brought it directly to my talk page. The "struck" comment, as it currently is, is still off-topically taken out of context and seems to have been placed there to convince prospective reviewers that reviewing my nomination is somehow not worth their time.
Moving fully addressed reviews (which you explicitly stated) to the talk page of a nomination is normal practice which even coords have done on plenty of nominations before. They have already stated it will be taken into account pre-closing. Anyways, being competitive about Four Awards is not necessarily a negative thing, so I disagree that needs to be struck. Seems to be a random thing you have picked out to serve as a counterbalance to your actual aspersions on my nomination. Anyways, it seems clear nothing productive is going to come from us engaging on this further (given the continued use of passive aggressive words: "your lie", "aspersions"). This discussion has consumed me for the past two days and has been the source of a lot of negativity. I am devastated to say this, as a self-professed Lamb, but I think it would be most productive if we stay away from each other's FACs in the future. I have been hard at work on this article since June(!) last year, and you have uttered absolutely nothing positive about it since commencing your review. The fact that you are repeatedly indicating all of your comments have been addressed, but refusing to support, and trying to restore inflammatory comments on the review page blatantly indicates malicious intent. Given the constant bad faith assumptions, I have neither the strength nor energy to engage in this further. Let's do this voluntarily so I don't have to seek administrative intervention (which I absolutely will if the disruption continues). I do not wish to hear from you again. Regards.--NØ 20:42, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
