Discussion at Talk:Dua Lipa#What Happened to Her Modeling Career? Also Albanian-British Not English

Please take a peek at this little improvement and decide whenever her profession as a former model should be inserted into lead section in main article as in "Albanian-English singer, songwriter, and former model."

But another user named Snapsnap said that ethnicity shouldn't be included per WP:OPENPARA. OPENPARA. Yes she is a native Londoner while Bebe Rexha is a Brooklynite born to Macedonian bred Albanians.

Best wishes,

67.81.163.178 (talk) 20:03, 11 April 2019 (UTC)

Her career as a model is not included in the opening sentence because she was not notable for modelling. She was born in, and is a citizen of, England. We do not include people's ethnicities in the opening sentence unless they were born there. (See Camila Cabello who is referred to as Cuban-American because she was born in Cuba.) Hope that helped.--NØ 20:09, 11 April 2019 (UTC)

WikiCup 2019 Reminder

Hi. I'm DannyS712 (talk), and I just wanted to remind you that you are a current participant in round 2 of this year's WikiCup! There are only a few days until the second round ends – if you haven't made you first submission for this round yet, there is still time to start; if you have already started, keep up the good work. All About That Bass YouTube view count

I believe the combination of 1) a very regularly updated Wikipedia page, 2) an auto-updated YouTube playlist and 3) the DBase website (I added this link on my latest update)

to be sufficient and reliable evidence to include a YouTube view count. All of these sources agree with each other almost all the time (when I have seen them disagree, this proves there is independence, and they get quickly updated to agree with each other again).

It also seems notable that a video has received over a billion views (especially when over 2 billion and in the Wiki top 30 list).

This is comparable with or exceeds the sourcing on the same statistic in other "good articles" such as Despacito and Gangnam Style.

I note that All About That Bass's position on the list is a moving target and therefore the sources must be moving targets. It would not be too difficult to source to a fixed news article to "tick the reliability box", as many news sites have covered the list, but these sources would in fact be more likely to be incorrect as they were only correct on publishing date.

Are you happy for me to reinstate the statistic?

Thank you for your recent work on the article along with User:Cartoon_network_freak in particular - it is becoming much easier to read.

Tcamfield (talk) 07:31, 24 April 2019 (UTC)

Of course the YouTube statistic would be worthy of inclusion. The concern I have revolves around reliability of the sources cited. I really don’t think people would let this article pass an FAC with a random YouTube playlist cited as a source.—NØ 08:04, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
Tcamfield, I see that you have restored the YouTube content. We will keep it in the article but if someone complains about it in the FAC then we will have to discuss this further.--NØ 20:10, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
MaranoFan, Sounds good. I changed the link to DBase. It's a real-time automated YouTube tracking tool recently quoted on Medium.com as one of the top 5 YouTube influencer marketing tools. Tcamfield (talk) 20:20, 25 April 2019 (UTC)

WikiCup 2019 May newsletter

The second round of the 2019 WikiCup has now finished. Contestants needed to scored 32 points to advance into round 3. Our top four scorers in round 2 all scored over 400 points and were:

  • Scotland Cas Liber (1210), our winner in 2016, with two featured articles and three DYKs. He also made good use of the bonus points available, more than doubling his score by choosing appropriate articles to work on.
  • Wales Kosack (750), last year's runner up, with an FA, a GA, two FLs, and five DYKs.
  • Adam Cuerden (480), a WikiCup veteran, with 16 featured pictures, mostly restorations.
  • Kingdom of Prussia Zwerg Nase (461), a seasoned competitor, with a FA, a GA and an ITN item.

Other notable performances were put in by Chicago Barkeep49 with six GAs, United States Ceranthor, England Lee Vilenski, and Saskatchewan Canada Hky, each with seven GARs, and Denmark MPJ-DK with a seven item GT.

So far contestants have achieved nine featured articles between them and a splendid 80 good articles. Commendably, 227 GARs have been completed during the course of the 2019 WikiCup, so the backlog of articles awaiting GA review has been reduced as a result of contestants' activities. The judges are pleased with the thorough GARs that are being performed, and have hardly had to reject any. As we enter the third round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Meghan Trainor

Hello Marano Fan, thank you for editing my work recently. I'm made the Meghan Trainor edits concerning the appearances she is doing in charity events such as 24th annual Women in Entertainment Breakfast, the events had citation that are valid sources such as Billboard. Can you please let me know what seems to be the problem? I didnt understand why a BLP cant mention active role in charity events? Thank you, BP

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Meghan_Trainor&type=revision&diff=897817310&oldid=896888407

The only paragraph I completely removed was the following: Trainor has been involved with several nonprofit organization and took active part in different social causes and fights. She has made appearances in various charity events using her celebrity status to promote issues close to her heart. This does not sound neutral, it reads like a fan blog and shouldn’t be part of a good article. Hope that helps.—NØ 07:06, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

Oh... i see now. i thought the whole paragraph changed.Sorry, i think i misunderstood the coloring as i'm color blind. And i'm still fairly new to this. Thank you for clearing things up. BP

Rollback granted

Hi MaranoFan. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. In New York Times article, "As part of the new agreement, Swift will own her master recordings moving forward, and on YouTube, the video for “Me!” was credited to Taylor Swift Productions, Inc." (a company, of course). I can't take it with that kid Arivgao who keep adding a company as a label. 2402:1980:248:F99C:406B:1B33:73DC:59B (talk) 10:23, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
