Orphaned non-free media (Image:76b8.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:76b8.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:02, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Work, work, work. work, work, work[edit]

Thanks for this! I've been hoping for months somebody'd do it. (I couldn't find anything...). Hedly Lamar ♠ I'm workin' for Mel Brooks ♠ 08:56 & 08:58, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Useage of {{cite web}}[edit]

Did you know that you do not have to have all of the parameters of the cite web template in for it to work? See Template:Cite_web#Usage for what I mean....it may make your life here less cluttered. the_ed17 15:25, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, (you don't have to) but you may want to take a look at this page: WP:How to archive a talk page...your talk page has a lot on it. =) the_ed17 15:33, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Make sure...[edit]

...that you get yourself a DYK for your efforts in Carrier Air Wing Six! -talk- the_ed17 -contribs- 15:00, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I nominated it there, crediting you. Feel free to add another nom or replace mine with a better one. -talk- the_ed17 -contribs- 16:03, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can I nominate some of the articles...[edit]

...you've contributed heavily to for GA and possibly FA? The articles are very good, like Operation Strikeback, USS Triton (SSRN-586) etc...Carrier Air Wing Six is awfully close...So may I? Leave me a message back on my talk page with your reply please! -talk- the_ed17 -contribs- 16:51, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nominated...[edit]

...Operation Strikeback, USS Triton (SSRN-586) and Carrier Air Wing Six at the WP:GAN page. (Under War and Military section) Thanks for allowing me! -talk- the_ed17 -contribs- 17:39, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I have completed the GA review of USS Triton (SSRN-586), with the full review being located at Talk:USS Triton (SSRN-586)/GA1, and also accessible through the article talk page. I have several MOS, image and referencing concerns with the article that need to be addressed before the article can become a GA. As I noted on the review page, I am very willing to help with the MOS issues, but I probably will not have time until sometime tomorrow. If you have any questions, please let me know on the review page or on my talk page. Dana boomer (talk) 20:45, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll help you as much as I can as well, but if there are any questions about numbers/facts/figures/references etc. you'll have to answer them—I don't know a thing about the Triton. =/ Cheers, -talk- the_ed17 -contribs- 04:15, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Can you work on this some? I've got class, but I'll be back as soon as I can... -talk- the_ed17 -contribs- 15:51, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Gable Run Silent.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Gable Run Silent.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 01:20, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Random[edit]

Do you want me to archive your talk page for you so that it's not so bloody long? =) -talk- the_ed17 -contribs- 21:06, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WP:How to archive a talk page is the link that you'd be looking for. Just take your pick; it's easiest to just move it to a subpage such as User talk:Marcd30319/Archive 1, but that still leaves you with a very LONG archive 1. You may want to use the cut & paste and split the pages.... Unless of course you want to remove the redundant messages i.e. the image copyright messages that you have resolved.... I'll do it if you want. =D -talk- the_ed17 -contribs- 13:40, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Long time no talk[edit]

Hello. I figured that I'd stop in, say hi, and see if you needed any help. It doesn't look like it (you're gonna be a DYK master!!) but you never know....and by the way, I like your shortened talk page here. =) Cheers! —the_ed17— 18:41, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, a GA review for Operation Strikeback is open...Talk:Operation Strikeback/GA1. —the_ed17— 18:56, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey again Marc...a GA review for Carrier Air Wing Six is open. This one should be a bit easier, the only thing holding it up is references for the tables. —the_ed17— 17:43, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Carrier Air Wing Six has been nominated for a good article reassessment. Articles are typically reviewed for one week. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to good article quality. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, the good article status will be removed from the article. Reviewers' concerns are here. —Mattisse (Talk) 17:27, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sighs* I guess that there is not enough prose in the article... —the_ed17— 17:33, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Userboxes?[edit]

If you wanted to show your accomplishments here thus far on articles, try using {{User Good Article}} and put them on your userpage... At the least, you could put these:

on there (I don't know if you have any other good articles done.)

Also, for your DYK's (I don't know how many you have =]), you could use {{User Did You Know2}}...putting the number of DYK's in after...i.e. if you have 5 DYK's , then {{User Did You Know2|5}} would produce

This user has been a major contributor to 5 articles featured in the Did you know... section on the Main Page.

If you wanted to do that, it helps to keep track of what important stuff you have done...and if you ever run for admin, I would guess that it would probably help to be able to point to your userpage and say, "Yeah, I have this experience with GA's and DYK's..." =) —the_ed17— 15:19, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The references are fine, but they need to be formatted correctly! =) I think that you might have screwed up on a few of the templates, that's all...not a huge deal. I'll go through quick and tell you which ones are off, but I'm going home today from college, and I can't fix it (I'm leaving in and hour or so)....and I'll be unavailable until Sunday at the earliest.

  • Ref 2:I don't know if {{Cite web}} can handle multiple links...just type it out manually :)
  • Ref 3: looks weird...it looks like it was published on Septembver 4th, but it was retrieved on the 3rd??
  • Refs 9 + 10 + 48 + 52: all need retrieval dates. :D
  • Ref 17: is broken somehow...
  • Ref 25 & 28: use {{cite book}} instead...
  • Ref 33 & 34: need to be split...one source per #...and then two of them will nee {{cite web}}
  • Ref 41: what's the title...?

That was what I got when going through the references as fast as I could. Cheers! —Ed 17 for President Vote for Ed 15:46, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! Welcome back after your 17 day hiatus! :D What's going on? —Ed 17 for President Vote for Ed 17:15, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! Ive been house-sitting. I'm getting back into things now. Wh is the status of the GA re-assessment for Carrier Air Wing Six or the GA review of Operation Strikeback?Marcd30319 (talk) 22:55, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
CVW-6 was de-listed, and Strikeback was failed...
However, if you want, nominate CVW-6 at featured list if you want..almost as good as FA without the numerous prose requirements! :)
Also, you can renominate Strikeback if you want (as long as the references are fixed! :D)
As before, if you need help, just ask! —Ed 17 for President Vote for Ed 19:09, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
