Information icon Hello, I'm Gaia Octavia Agrippa. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Marian Hobson, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 19:01, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I am the Marian Hobson of the article. I added points about my father because what you have written will be wildly misunderstood by anyone not familiar with the UK. Please restore what I wrote - it is of interest to people researching e.g. class mobility. My father when I was born was a FITTER at Neasden Power Station. He became an MP, a Minister and finally when the Labour Party came to power and needed some ministers who could act in the House of lords, a Peer of the realm. I.e. some one who had left school at 14, could become part of the Government and a Peer.

I speak from a lot of experience in trying to explain this kind of thing to e.g. people in the US. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.164.59.196 (talk) 19:29, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Marhob. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Marian Hobson, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 13:29, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
