Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Marketing Writer. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 14:58, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

COI editing

[edit]

Again, as the above section recommends, you should avoid directly editing articles where your paid position gives you a conflict of interest, such as Jack London (businessman). Instead, propose your changes on the article's talk page, and allow non-conflicted editor to decide whether they are appropriate. --Nat Gertler (talk) 02:34, 11 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please see the note above.
If this is unclear, please read WP:PAID
If you continue to directly make non-neutral edits on behalf of your employer you will be swiftly indefinitely blocked per WP:NOTHERE.
Proceed with care - the editing community tolerates paid editors, barely.
There is a place for paid editors who completely abide by the policies and guidelines -- see Wikipedia:Statement on Wikipedia from participating communications firms
I will not warn you again. If I need to write here again because you have continued directly editing about your employer, it will be to inform you that I have filed a case to have you banned from Wikipedia.
I am being harsh but trying to be very, very clear.
If you have any questions, you can ask below. I will see it. Jytdog (talk) 07:12, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Last warning

[edit]

Really please stop editing directly where you have a COI. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 01:13, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war warning

[edit]
Stop icon

Your recent editing history at CACI shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion

[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident with which you may be involved. Thank you. Jytdog (talk) 04:40, 21 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Final warning

[edit]

Hi. You have been given ample advice above about how you can contribute with a conflict of interest yet have seemingly chosen to ignore it. If you continue to edit war to your preferred version of the CACI article you will be blocked from editing. Please make suggestions on how the article could be changed on the talk page and let others review them. Thank you. SmartSE (talk) 10:00, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Understood. I have reviewed and understand the relevant Wikipedia policies and will submit proposed changes to the Talk Page. Request editor review of the following accurate, relevant information to be placed on the CACI International Inc page.

Decline reason:

{It doesn't appear that you understand the purpose of an encyclopaedia and from the content you posted here (that I've removed) it only looks like you'll be wasting the time of our volunteer editors. If this continues then your talk page access will be revoked. —SpacemanSpiff 06:37, 24 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
