24MAY2010 Response to re Copyright problems[edit]

I am the copyright owner and saw no problem with using my logos. I put links on my User Page purely so it could be seen that my copyright images are my own. I have sinced cleaned that up on m UserPage, however a search on Google 'slouch hat chocolates' will support my response. Thankyou. User Mary-ann martinek

Speedy deletion of Slouch hat chocolates[edit]

A tag has been placed on Slouch hat chocolates, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Nomoskedasticity (talk) 11:15, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RESPONSE 24May2010 to re Speedy deletion of Slouch hat chocolates[edit]

The tag was a test, I did something and I have only just read this comment. My apologies but I can say the 'thing' i was trying to achieve was an error made on my lack of how to navigate the system. Don't know what Talk is, or where, so I am adding mny response here. User: Mary-ann martinek

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:SamthekoalaCakes&BiscuitsTM.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:SamthekoalaCakes&BiscuitsTM.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 06:25, 30 January 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 06:25, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:SamthekoalaChocolatesTM.png[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:SamthekoalaChocolatesTM.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. ww2censor (talk) 18:37, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

February 2010[edit]

If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Sam (koala), you may have a conflict of interest. 3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

24MAY2010 Response re February 2010[edit]

As stated elsewhere here, I was providing evidence to the Sam (Koala) page that news articles were not balanced, and that the information on or about me needed consideration. The due consideration was given to my information and a short paragraph was written is as "Trademark dispute - On 20 February 2009, an application was made to register the words "Sam the Koala" as a trademark for chocolates, giving rise to comment in the HeraldSun. The Department of Sustainability and Environment's media office was asked for comment[19] and later filed a notice of opposition. At this time no final decision has been made in the matter." I thought it was balanced and that is how the page remains, If I have added something it was a recent ACMA Investigation report (since deleted by someone) but that was adding to balanced article on wiki. Content in it was relevant I thought, but one other disagreed and their comments became a tad insulting if you look at my history page "something about "sh_t" which I thought was quite unnecessary to say. User Mary-ann martinek

Hi,

I thought I'd drop you a note that I have asked for other editors to take a look at the editing on Sam (koala) and advise if it's proper and the article is kept balanced with appropriate weight to the controversy.

This isn't a reflection on you. It's part of the role of editors to generally watch over articles and ensure they stay well edited.

You can also contribute to any discussion here.

24MAY2010 Response to Sam (koala)[edit]

Thankyou! I appreciate it if the Sam (Koala) page can be kept balanced and not perpetuate any personalizing of the obvious media attack. Several articles and url links have been removed from the Heraldsun website and other media platforms, and some other articles are still being investigated which takes time to complete to be fair to all parties involved. Once the findings into the remaining url news articles are made then, urls will either be active or they will be deleted by the Herald and Weekly Times management. I was notifying wiki of the 'deletions' as they occurred. Thanks, 'balance' is all I can ask for. User; mary-ann martinek

User page[edit]

I notice that your user page may not meet Wikipedia's user page guideline, because Wikipedia is not a home page or a place for a personal biography, nor a place to advertize a resume or businesses, and the like. Nor is it a place to write up about real-world disputes you may be in.

If you believe that your userpage does not violate our guidelines, please leave a note here and we can discuss it. As an alternative, you may add {{Db-userreq}} to the top of the page in question and an administrator will delete it, or if you aren't sure what is appropriate and what isn't, let me know and I'll have a go for you. However if it stands unfixed, then it will probably be requested for deletion.

24MAY2010 Response to re User page[edit]

My user page is as is, if it needs cleaning up i have no objection to that. I use my own name and I have read on my User Page some attempts at slander etc and I have made no complaint, if that is how wiki works and Editors check on stuff that's not balanced or meets the rules then that's a great service. Other editors have kindly removed stuff on my UserPage citing it was 'vandalism' and they have adjusted stuff too. I thought that was fine. User: Mary-ann Martinek

Herald Sun[edit]

"news content conceded by Heraldsun to be in error"

Oh?

Where was this conceded, please?

Bear in mind, that's not a rhetorical question. If it really was conceded, then by all means that should be included in the article. DS (talk) 18:02, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In response to you re : Herald Sun[edit]

Note 24MAY2010 - i don't know where to place this so I put my response on the Sam page. The conceding was from the Heraldsun lawyer and ACMA investigation, and I tried to place up the evidence but it was removed. How do I show that the news content was conceded to be wrong? if I am blocked from placing it up. Here is the letter/s and more to follow when the Press Council finishes their investigation. These take months and i thought wiki editor/s was about placing up accurate and verified content. USER: mary-ann martinek

Speedy deletion declined[edit]

I declined the speedy deletion of your user page User:Mary-ann martinek because it did not appear to me to be spam, or at least it was not clear what business the page was promoting, if any. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 08:28, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

However, whatever the topic is, it is formatted/written like an article, so I put {{userpage}} tags on it so readers will not be confused or think it is an actual article in our encyclopedia. DMacks (talk) 08:38, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you read the recent edit history you will see that the user page, apart from being some kind of personal apologia, was also clearly spruiking various businesses and publications the user is associated with. The links for these were only removed after I added the spam advertising tag. Afterwriting (talk) 09:09, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It may still be too "advertising" for a userpage (or even "just really inappropriate" in other ways), just not speediably-so. WP:MFD would be the place to raise that concern. DMacks (talk) 09:26, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not arguing with the decision, just pointing out that the page had been edited since I added the tag to remove the links to personal commercial websites etc. The page still seems very inappropriate and a misuse of user space but I don't know whether any user page policies deal adequately with this. Afterwriting (talk) 09:58, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As you will see, I have opened a discussion of your page to consider its possible deletion. Please feel free to contribute, but ensure you argue on the basis of Wikipedia principles. You'll find the nomination on that page links to relevant principles and guidance which will help you understand why a page might be kept or deleted. 24MAY2010 re Response to Speedy Deletion decision, and subsequent[edit]

As can be seen I do not find this system easy to use, or look up nor respond to in th eright place. Messages are placed in places I have not found so I will firstly say thankyou for the decision above. I read some of the comments and still think my user page is not spam or advertsing and where it could be I have cleaned it up. I am happy for ALL the previous history top be scrutinized but if it gets deleted entirely then no footprint. Thanks. User: mary-ann martinerk

Contrary to what you said here, Julian Assange is not our founder. Wikileaks is not affiliated in any way with the Wikimedia Foundation except insofar as they use our free MediaWiki software.

Trademarks re: What is the relevance of Bob The Koala to 'Sam'[edit]

The comment should be reversed because Bob is Sam. We don't yet know who the 'third' Museum koala is. Apparently, from my talking to those who were actually there, there is likely three koalas involved in this very elaborate branding to sell newspapers and news. m2 13:51, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Bob The Koala[edit]

m2 13:47, 6 December 2010 (UTC) The answer to the question of relevance is simple, Bob is Sam.
