Thank you.

A tag has been placed on World Gifted & Talented Awareness Day, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item G11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Dmol (talk) 23:32, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

World Gifted & Talented Awareness Day

[edit]

I have userfied this for you - moved into a user sub-page - at User:Marynz/World Gifted & Talented Awareness Day. One of the requirements for a Wikipedia article is called notability, which is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people independent of the subject thought it important and significant enough to write substantial comment about? For an event which is being proposed but has not yet occurred, that may well not be possible, and indeed those of your references which actually referred to the World Day seemed to be from people concerned with it; but it is not an encyclopedia's role to act as a notice-board for publicising forthcoming events, even for worthy causes. Once the event has taken place, you may be able to find independent comment about it. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 10:33, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I had a new messages message, with something about Line 19, that I did not understand. At this point the day has happened, after a name change, but people are still travelling home from the conference where the event was launched. I am waiting to hear whether there will be an official statement published about it.Marynz (talk) 02:46, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
