Should this be included somewhere?

TEXT--> Some other proponents like Raëlians think that the designer is an advanced extraterrestrial civilization.

This is problematical, as the main arguments underlying ID are arguments that evolution could not create the diversity of life on the Earth. As far as I know, Raëlians don't make these sorts of claims. Can you cite examples of specific ID-like claims from Raelians? Likewise, I don't think that there's anybody within the ID movement that considers "an advanced extraterrestrial civilization" as anything other than a spurious cover for the movement's implicit theism. I therefore have trouble seeing that there is sufficient overlap between ID & Raelians to be worthy of inclusion. HrafnTalkStalk 18:02, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hrafn, you have infinitely more patience with these type of comments than I do. I laugh hard enough when I read what DI says about ID, now I have to read about Raelians? I spit up coffee all over my computer. OrangeMarlin Talk• Contributions 18:20, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Intelligent Design: Message from the Designers

This is the name of a book put out by Raelians.

There are 3 possible options for the origin of life:

A) Neo-Darwinism and Abiogenesis: A speculative theory, unproved yet, with many anomalies and struggling against the improbability barrier and the complexity, beauty and diversity of life.

B) Theist Intelligent Design: A supernatural explanation, the Almighty God, with mysterious abilities and it's contradictions. For those who believe in magic and sudden creation of something from nothing.

C) Atheist Intelligent Design : In a few years, it will be experimentally proved that Human Intelligence with sufficient knowledge of DNA and Genetic Engineering can create any form of life they wish.

And the above is a comment by a reader.

And the concept that advanced beings seem like Gods to lesser beings is well known.

What is the google tool used to see how much certain phrases are searched? Maybe we could use that to see how notable Raelianism is as compared to Intelligent Design or Discovery Institute.

Can someone archive this trolling. Thanks. OrangeMarlin Talk• Contributions 19:06, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's trivial and already covered by the disambiguation link at the top – it's just a marketing exercise, a 2006 recompiled English compilation of the 1974,1975 and 1979 books ISBN 2940252203 – 1974 Le Livre qui dit la vérité ("The Book Which Tells the Truth"), 1975 Les extra-terrestres m'ont emmené sur leur planète ("Extraterrestrials Took me to Their Planet") (collected in English as "The Message Given to Me by Extra-Terrestrials") and 1979 Accueillir les extra-terrestres ("Let's Welcome the Extraterrestrials") ..... dave souza, talk 19:27, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just out of curiousity, does anyone know where the bleedin' Raelians are meant to have come from? Did they evolve, or did someone else create them? Enquiring minds want to know... Tomandlu 21:16, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Probably the same place all the matter and energy came from before the big bang. Massachew 23:53, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Puhlease...let's not feed the troll. OrangeMarlin Talk• Contributions 00:01, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are the only one that is 'feeding'. Please stop. The Raelians are the most notable of the atheistic design proponents.

I think that the fact that their new book is a just a compiliation should be mentioned. I think the ID article in general is to much POV of biblical creationisists. Massachew 00:11, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
