Vampire[edit]

Can you please cite/add a source for the remark you just added? Also the first line contained the word , "citites", which I assume you ment just city.--Kim Nevelsteen 08:49, 22 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Stop adding these paragraphs:

"King Diamond is widely regarded as the best vocalist in all of death metal. It is necesarry to say that there are two King Diamonds, the stage and offstage. King Diamond's wide octave range and Satanic lyrics provided an amazing basis for Mercyful Fate's success. Diamond wide octave range was used in everyone of his albums and even through his most famous work, A Corpse Without a Soul. Even James Hetfield from Metallica could not imitate his wide octave singing when Metallica released a Mercyful Fate Cover song in the Garage Inc. album.

King Diamond uses a trademark Microphone stand made out of two human femur bones in the shape of an inverted cross. His makeup design was quite similar to that of Gene Simmons from Kiss and was sued because of it. His singing abilities are amazing and his stage prescence cannot be overstated as are his deeply occult allthough elaborated lyrics."

Most of it is either complete bullshit (death metal??? - come on) and highly POV. Spearhead 21:28, 23 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This contains wrong information: eg KD has nothing to do with Death metal, two KDs. and lots of POV issues: Best vocalist, amazing basis, his most famous work, His singing abilities are amazing. Besides that, don't rely on everything you read. Spearhead 08:27, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

"OK, lets say King Diamond has nothing to do with Death Metal as you say. Death metal is by definition any Heavy Metal song that speaks about death, suffering or mayhem. "

Just read the death metal page. It describes death metal as quite something different. Also look at the King Diamond (band) and Mercyful Fate page. Neither describes KD/MF as death metal. I've never heard any one describe KD as death metal either, KD is mostly progressive heavy metal with some power metal overtones and MF is proto black metal early on and later also progressive heavy metal. Please stop adding the line about Captain Kirk to the Michael Myers article. The mask he wears in the movies is a Shatner mask, not a Kirk mask. Also, the "accurate guess" as to his height is speculation and is thus not encyclopedic. I changed this line to "[Myers] is well over six feet tall." I hope this will satisfy your desire to have his height listed. --Myles Long/cDc 18:45, 30 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

van halen[edit]

you state that you don't understand why i keep reverting the same edits you make at Van Halen. you claim, "all the information I'm writing down is factually correct", and you ask why i keep erasing your changes.

your edits are being reverted not because it is you writing them, but because they are unacceptable for an encyclopedia. you're correct that i "do not own the article". if you'll notice, i have had my material erased/modified as well. that is how wikipedia works. the difference though is how you react to it. i can assure you that as long as i'm around, those changes are not going to stay in the article, especially since we're hoping for Featured Article status soon.

first, please do not insert slop into the article. i am not going to participate in a dynamic where you toss whatever you want in, then i'm supposed to clean it up because it's precious. wikipedia guidelines support you learning that you need to bring basic competence to the edit.

The Album was heavy on cover songs and included famous songs such as Ain't Talking 'bout love, Ice Cream Man-cover song- (Featuring Roth on Acoustic Guitar), Atomic Punk and a Kinks Cover of You Really Got Me.

that will eventually make it into the article in some form, provided you don't expect me or anybody else to format it for you.

maybe you can examine the following items against your claim that what you've written is "factually correct" rather than POV.

The secret to Van Halen's success were the complex compositions ranging from the hardest rock to the softest pop. Eddie Van Halen's self-taught technique of Guitar Tappings proved to so innovative that there has not been a change of this significance in guitar playing before (except for Jimi Hendrix) or since. The sound produced by Van Halen was nothing anyone had every heard before. Its influence cannot be overstated and it is clear that it set the tone for Hard Rock bands since.

you've dropped in from heaven to tell us what the secret to VH's success was, huh? no, that's utter POV, amid the poor grammar. it's POV that VH played from "the hardest rock to the softest pop" ("softest pop"? you can't seriously believe that). EVH acknowledges that his "Guitar Tappings", as you put it, were inspired by angus young. again, you're using the god voice to inform us that, "there has not been a change of this significance in guitar playing before (except for Jimi Hendrix) or since."? what about allan holdsworth (one of eddie's idols)? what about yngwie malmsteen (who i can't stand, but is held by some to be as significant as EVH)? the point is not that i'm arguing those players cross this line you've set up; the point is that it's your opinion, and is not something that can be called "factually correct". there are ways to convey the opinions of others (not your opinions though, or mine), and if you study and apply wikipedia guidelines and policy to your edits, i think we'll be headed toward agreement with your edits. "cannot be overstated"? oh, i disagree.

you changed:

Sammy Hagar - lead vocals (1985-1996), (2004-)

to

Sammy Hagar - lead vocals Acompany Guitar (Live Venues) (1985-1996), (2004-)

the article does not need misspellings, nor incomprehensible additions such as "(Live Venues)". why would you capitalize that? why would you not, after being reverted so many times, not attempt to spell "Acompany" correctly, though that's not even remotely how to express what you're trying to?

you want to up your game, i'm all for it. as a fellow VH fan, i'll be one of your biggest supporters. but if you're not interested in doing anything but inserting the same rejected material over and over as if it's going to change anything, please just stop. thanks.
