Atlanta Georgia Temple

Thanks for expanding the article on the Atlanta Georgia Temple. A lot of the Wikipedia temple articles don’t have much beyond vital statistics, so it’s nice to see one improved.

I’m going to change back some of the changes you made to Template:LDS Temple/Atlanta Georgia Temple, and I wanted to explain why. According to the official church website (here), the 1997 event was a rededication, and it is termed so similarly to other temples that have had additions. That page is also a template, with data that is shared by many pages. By changing the parameter keyword “rededication” to “addition” (on the left-hand side of an = sign), you inadvertently caused the rededication date to go missing in the info box and also on List of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Comparison of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I’m also going to change “film” back to “movie”, to be consistent with other temples.

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Tucker, Georgia

Matthew: Ease up a bit on the Tucker designation for articles like Henderson Mill Road and Northlake Mall (Atlanta), etc. Your efforts might appear, to some, as advocacy. Henderson Mill Road appears to be located in the (potential) new city of Lakeside, or the area traditionally designated as Northlake, but not Tucker. Northlake Mall is not included in most definitions of Tucker (which starts somewhere on the other side of I-285). I'm sure you're just taking the view of "Greater Tucker", but since these areas are presently disputed between various factions seeking incorporation it would be best for Wikipedia if we remain neutral...and drop the effort to categorize everything within a 5 mile radius of Mainstreet as "Tucker" (for now). Matthew: Very impressed with your work on the Tucker article. Great job! I've lived in the area for half a lifetime, and wasn't aware all of the facts you uncovered. The article will require some revision, however, if the Lakeside bill makes it through the legislature. Tucker is far more than the article indicates but to avoid unnecessary conflict, I took a conservative approach and reduced Tucker to a core area that is typically undisputed. Vista Grove, Georgia

Requesting assistance in deleting the article Vista Grove, Georgia?

' 'Vista Grove Plaza' ' is the name of shopping plaza at 2862 Lavista Road, built in the 1960’s, in unincorporated DeKalb County, Georgia.

The article fails to provide sources identifying the larger area by the name ' 'Vista Grove.' ' The neighborhoods, schools, and houses of worship listed in the article do not now nor have they ever, constituted an area or community called Vista Grove.

The only church that might qualify to bear the name, due to proximity, is Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. Yet the church website makes no mention of Vista Grove. None of the residential developments adjacent to the shopping plaza use the name Vista Grove and the plaza is not mentioned as a point of reference on any of their websites (See; Vista Green, Leafmore Forest Condominiums, Oak Grove Heights (atlantatownhomes.com)).

Least anyone think the article should be renamed ' 'Oak Grove,' ' the neighborhoods, schools, and houses of worship in the article cover a much wider area than Oak Grove.

For example, Congregation Beth Jacob, is located 2 miles away in Biltmore Acres across from Merry Hills neighborhood. Central Congregational United Church of Christ is 2.2 miles away. Hawthorne Elementary School is 3.2 miles away. Shallowford Presbyterian Church is 2.6 miles away. None of these, like the majority listed in the article, have any association with Vista Grove Plaza or Oak Grove.

This Wikipedia article is likely an advocacy piece for a real estate agent or possibly the Vista Grove Initiative website promoting the introduction of a cityhood bill to the Georgia state legislature. Leaving it as is and not deleting it, could lead less informed residents, potential home buyers, the media, students, and legislators to believe that Vista Grove is an established community with an identity. This article does not meet Wikipedia standards for verifiability, citing sources, or accuracy and should be deleted. Matthew R. Lee (talk) 09:47, 19 February 2017 (UTC)
