Additional tips[edit]

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. Five will get you the datestamp only.
  • You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.

Shhh[edit]

Obviously no-one has told that using all capitals is SHOUTING and we do not shout here. I have moved a page of yours to User:Matthewrobinson/lodges. When you have fixed the capitalisation and explained what A.F. and A.M. are, you can move it back to List of A.F. and A.M. recognized lodges in North America. -- RHaworth 07:26, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I took a look at your mock up of the "A.F. & A.M." page and have noticed some major problems with it. First, "A.F. & A.M." stands for "Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons", not "Accepted Free & Ancient Masonry." This is extremely important because many grand lodges do not go by "A.F. & A.M.". They go by "F. & A.M." for just "Free and Accepted Masons." This occurs because of a split within the grandlodge of england during the 18th century. When lodges were formed in the US and the rest of North America, some were chartered as "A.F. & A.M." and some were charterd as "F. & A.M." depending on which side of the split chartered them. For example, my GL is the GL of Connecticut, which is "A.F. & A.M." While, the GL of New York is "F. & A.M.". Furthermore, all Prince Hall GL's are "F. & A.M." and not "A.F. & A.M." You can see [| here] all the US Grand Lodges and if they go by "A.F. & A.M." or "F. & A.M."

The next major problem with the page is that it pretty much exists already as List_of_Masonic_Grand_Lodges and if published will almost certainly be voted as an wikipedia:AFD. There has been alot of debate on the List_of_Masonic_Grand_Lodges talk page about this subject and I would suggest taking a look at that before you attempt this page.
