Welcome![edit]

Hello, Maxrd2, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Subtitle Composer, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

Notice

The article Subtitle Composer has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:NPRODUCT. Current references are routine filles/multimedia failing WP:SIGCOV or non-independent sites (its own site and KDE Frameworks), clearly failing NPRODUCT. WP:BEFORE found non-reliable, non-SIGCOV listicles, e.g., 1, 2, 3.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Thank you for reviewing the article. I understand that most of the references that can be found on search engines are from bots and copies of the project's text/screenshots.
I did found some genuine reviews like here which didn't simply copy text/images from project page, there are also mentions and user reviews in various forums and software is included in most major Linux distributions (and there are pages that can be linked).
Also the project became part of KDE in 2019, so are pre-2019 KDE articles considered as conflict of interest and non-notable?
If article really requires deletion, is it possible to mention the project/software somewhere else on wikipedia? Seems that all articles with broader scope (Subtitle editor, Comparison of subtitle editors) require mentioning Subtitle Composer to have it's own page on wikipedia - if it's red link it gets deleted.
Think not mentioning Subtitle Composer anywhere on wikipedia is not right, the project has been around since 2007, it's more mature than similar subtitle projects that have article on Wikipedia, which when queried on search engines also produce a similar list of questionable quality articles.
Would adding a paragraph to Subtitle Composer article with references to decent articles/pages (like two i linked above) help improve the situation? Thank you and sorry for my lack of experience with wikipedia articles. Maxrd2 (talk) 09:32, 22 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This is a blog with no editorial policies, whereas user forums are WP:SELFPUBLISHED and are not WP:RS. WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is thoroughly unconvincing. VickKiang (talk) 09:54, 22 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't this editorial policy? Maxrd2 (talk) 10:01, 22 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for my mistake, I have striked that part of my deletion rationale. Nevertheless, it identifies itself as a blog, here, with loose standards for new editors. VickKiang (talk) 20:30, 22 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
