Narcissism combats the shame and embarrassment that most people face in everyday lives

First introduced by Paul Nacke to describe a current client with an autoerotic pervasion for himself.

Narcissistic men are more likely to engage in hostile attitudes and activities Narcissistic women are more likely to be depressed because of their hyper-awareness of self.

Women are more likely to engage in public and private narcissism than males. Public is operationally defined as others’ judgements upon a person Private is operationally defined as personal thoughts about oneself.
