Categories for discussion nomination of Category:21st-century models

Category:21st-century models, which you created, has been nominated for deletion, merging, or renaming. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the Categories for discussion page. Thank you.

I have nominated Category:People from Santa Clara, California (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) for merging into Category:People from Santa Clara (city), California (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at the discussion page. Thank you. Bradjamesbrown (talk) 07:56, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

CFD thank you

... for that comment.

We disagree strongly on some categories, and agree strongly on others, but I value the fact that you argue your view without personalising the disagreements, and are ready to reconsider your position.

You evidently put a lot of work into creating the sportspeople-by-century categories whose deletion I have sought, and it must have been hard to avoid frustration at what happened ... but if you felt it, you didn't express it.

Good work! --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 18:28, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

No prob. I jumped the gun a bit (tend to be overzealous) with the sportspeople by century, as it turned out. I still favour completeness (roundedness) over navigation, but can see that I'm in the minority with this view. I think we agree as much as we disagree, it s just that there were so many of the sportspeople cats that I started (shouldn t have done so, I know now). I applaud the work you ve put into seeing them deleted/merged. (I ve learned or relearned a good lesson from this.) Likewise, keep up the good work! (Gambatte kudasai!) Undiscussed moving of Scarborough pages

Please discuss such major changes before making them. Discussion at WP:WikiProject Canada and WP:WikiProject Ontario decided long ago that all municipalities should be named as Location, Ontario. Scarborough ceased to exist in 1998, it didn't become Scarborough, Toronto. Prior to that, it was Scarborough, Ontario. All these pages need to be moved back. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 00:12, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

I gave an edit summary statement. Mayumashu (talk) 00:32, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
While there's never anything wrong with being bold, usually for page moves you should post a message on the article's talk page. If you get no response or a positive response, go for it. This was a pretty big move though, and only administrators can undo it. Just a heads up for next time. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 04:13, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
See my comments on the talk page at the Scarborough article. The actual naming convention is at WP:CANSTYLE - Floydian is correct that it was the result of lengthy discussion at WP:WikiProject Canada, although I`m not sure that I agree with his description of the naming convention. He is correct on the end result in this case, though, which is what matters. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 18:27, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Expansion of Skeezix1000 and Floydian's points, WP:CANSTYLE would dictate that the only reason that Scarborough would not be located at Scarborough, Ontario would be if there were more than one Scarborough in Ontario, in which case the correct location would be Scarborough, Toronto, Ontario. Such an example was located at Falconbridge, Greater Sudbury, Ontario (prior to a merge and redirect).--kelapstick (talk) 00:08, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

Women writers

Hi there Mayumashu. Re Kaushalya Bannerji the correct category is Category:20th-century women writers not "female writers" in which she is the only member, hence I think the categories for her page should be changed Hugo999 (talk) 13:33, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Question regarding CfR

I am working on the categories by administrative subdivision hierarchy, and I came across this edit by you back in 2008 where you withdraw a CfR nomination for Category:People by second-level administrative subdivision. Now, I was going to make the exact same nomination now for reasons of conformity with the existing hierachy structure. Do you remember why you withdrew your nomination, and is the any reason for me not to go forward with the nomination this time around? __meco (talk) 15:41, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

It may have just been that I realised I wouldn t have enough time at the time for doing up the nomination, for tagging and listing. (I d support such a nomination now too, btw.) Mayumashu (talk) 16:26, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
I found out now that the move target already exists, so I have emptied the category. Now it can be speedied. __meco (talk) 16:54, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Good to hear. Definitely an obvious one that needed to be done Mayumashu (talk) 16:56, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
