U.S.- Mexico Maritime Boundary Agreements moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, U.S.- Mexico Maritime Boundary Agreements, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources.(?) It also needs to be formatted properly -- see other articles on similar topics for examples. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Hello, Mburton4000. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Mburton4000, what I see you adding is material that seems to be related to the work of a Mark B. Feldman. If you have a conflict of interest, you need to declare that. I got your email, but I think it is more helpful and appropriate for me to answer here. Without going into all the details, let me just say this: a conflict of interest is a separate thing from a financial interest; it is more broad than that. Second, Wikipedia articles should be based on secondary sources, preferably sources that have been properly published and peer-reviewed. Material like this, that will likely never be accepted by Wikipedia editors, including me--it's an interview, so it's the person's own words and they can say whatever they want, and it's not published in a way that includes editorial oversight. The formatting isn't that much of a problem; the very first problem is that at least that one is just not acceptable in the first place--nor is a link to a website and a suggestion to click "search". And in your message you said, about one edit, that the information was "accurate, non-controversial and easily verifiable by any attorney familiar with the case"--but that is not acceptable here, and we're not going to go through the phone book looking for an attorney familiar with the case.
