WikiSchools[edit]

Welcome to the WikiProject Schools assessment team. If you need any help with assessing, please ask. Camaron1 | Chris 18:50, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome too.... however see my comments about B. Suggest you try a dozen articles and assess them and choose ones that are less than B. Also try to avoid any where you have an interest. Others will be pleased to help with those. Perservere 10/10 for boldness Victuallers 23:37, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry if you find this too tricky, but lets say i wanted to get an idea of the french google service[1] then I could do it like this[2] Victuallers 10:52, 27 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

To join with the others, I'd like to welcome you to the team and voice my hope that you enjoy assessing as much as we do and decide to help out on a more long-term basis. And Just to extend Victuallers' example [1] Adam McCormick 20:58, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My example - You will return?[edit]

I hope we haven't scared you off Victuallers

Thanks for the note about updates to the articles that you started. I haven't got any special software, I'm just quite familiar with the general format of articles (Wikipedia's Manual of Style) – no offence to you intended. In general, newcomers to Wikipedia usually get a welcome message as below – this gives them somewhere to turn to for help with editing and creating articles. I hope you find it useful. By the way, I'm also a Cantabrigian (started out as a NatSci but opted for CompSci after a year – I still reckon I'm a chemist at heart!). Cheers. -- [[User:MightyW

Welcome!

Hello, McKDandy, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} before the question on your talk page. Again, welcome!  -- MightyWarrior 16:03, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Space in articles[edit]

Generally, I would recommend that you avoid leaving blank lines in articles. In my browser the article appears set out differently to yours – and someone else could be looking at a different layout from both of ours. I think editors tend to place images down one side or the other to prevent text getting squeezed between two side and so appearing ugly. Another minor point: only the first mention of a term (eg. Henry Reed) should be blue linked; further mentions in the same article should usually not be linked (eg. Henry Reed). Carry on your good work! -- MightyWarrior 10:11, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.

If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.

P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot 02:36, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:LTA logo.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:LTA logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 23:09, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Files missing description details[edit]

Dear uploader: The media files you uploaded as:

are missing a description and/or other details on their image description pages. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the images, and they will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the images may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 01:28, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:08, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Loaded Asperities.JPG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

orphaned raster image that was not used to create the corresponding vector image and thus is not needed for attribution purposes (the vector image is based on File:Asperities.JPG, not this file)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
