Blocked[edit]

You have been blocked for 24 hours for disruption. It says at WP:TWINKLE that this is to be used within policy. I don't see leaving false "AGF" messages as being in policy. --Rschen7754 (T C) 00:58, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you wish to contest this block, you may use {{unblock|reason}}, although I strongly suggest you don't. neuro(talk) 01:08, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Because rschen7754 has his gonads in a bunch and can't take a joke - specifically when the joke has absolutely nothing to do with him and he should just mind his own business. He is abusing his power and wasting everyone's time dealing with someone just messing around when a real admin should be able to tell the difference between harmless teasing and malicious edits.

Decline reason:

Personal attacks, failure to assume good faith and not addressing your own behavior. You stay blocked. — Daniel Case (talk) 05:15, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Me (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

My own behavior didn't warrant the blocking in the first place, hence why I did not address it. Your friend and mine, Rschen, decided to poke his nose into a discussion where it didn't belong, and when someone else came along and agreed with me, he decided to have me blocked. Can't see where he assumed good faith, can you?

Decline reason:

See above decline reason. Continuing to attack the admin that blocked you isn't going to help you. — Smashvilletalk 05:48, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Endorse decline. This "adding ones self to an admin category" thing has come up before. It's not helpful. this edit summary suggests this user is not here to interact collegially. ++Lar: t/c 08:04, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Photo usage[edit]

Hi! I was just reading today's Purdue Exponent and realized that a couple of the photos on the front page looked familiar — they were photos of the Indiana Statehouse I remembered seeing in Wikimedia Commons. I looked them up and found that you were the author of one of them, so I thought I'd let you know (particularly since the paper's attributing it as their own file photo!) Baa![edit]

Hi there. Please forgive this slightly odd request; I was seeking an active Wikipedian in the Indianapolis area; reason being, the spotlight team are working on the article Marco Polo sheep, and we're struggling for pics. I wondered if there might be someone who could pop down to the zoo with a camera. Even better would be a sound clip of a 'baa'. Let me know if you can help; cheers,  Chzz  ►  17:40, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hold that...I've done a bit more searching, and I'm no longer convinced that the zoo has any :-(
The confusion has arisen because the "2008 Indianapolis Prize" from the Zoo was awarded to this guy called Dr. George Schaller, and he is the #1 person regarding this sheep species; he's done lots of work on their conservation.
Some earlier searching indicated that the zoo actually had some, but now, I'm not at all convinced. Shame. Anyway, thanks for the offer.  Chzz  ►  03:51, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The above is now confirmed; I got an email from Judith L. Gagen, Director of Communications, Indianapolis Zoo It said, in part, "Images of these creatures are not easy to find - I think Dr. Schaller is one of only a few people who have actually been close to them other than the native population (or hunters!). ". Sadly, looks like we're out of luck, unless we have a Wikipedian in the middle of these Chinese mountains :-/  Chzz  ►  03:57, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

Hi, I'm interested in contacting you about a project idea I have in mind for Wikipedia & the city of Indy. Care to chat some time? Thanks, --Richard McCoy (talk) 20:36, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cool, thanks. My e-mail address is XXX. In short, I'm interested in making some articles about outdoor sculptures in Indianapolis in Wikipedia, and I'd like to make sure the work is coordinated with the Wiki Project Indianapolis. I'm also interested in meeting some of the more active Wikipedians/editors in the city. I noticed that you had been instrumental in setting up the Wiki Project for Indianapolis and thought you might be able to direct me to some folks.

I'm not crazy about leaving my e-mail address up here, so once you contact me there, I'll take it off this page.

Thanks. --Richard McCoy (talk) 11:59, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Dave Patania WTHR.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Dave Patania WTHR.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 01:49, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of automated file description generation[edit]

Your upload of File:Conseco Fieldhouse.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. A tag has been placed on Category:Indianapolis articles with todo lists requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read!
