Accidental Warning

[edit]

Sorry, didn't mean to warn you. Vandalproof isn't terribly picky on who it decides to revert. Corrected, and fixed. Galactor213 04:05, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Political interps of the Wizard of Oz

[edit]

I edit from the address of 69.221.94.250, at least for now, and forgot to log in. In any case, it was on Studio 360 last week; perhaps it was the wrong place for the information, but it's true. Whether or not the queer theorists' opinions are correct is entirely up to the reader. Lockesdonkey 03:06, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sorry -- that kind of thing looks like vandalism, and since you didn't cite your source (and it came from an IP address), I just assumed it was in fact vandalism. It would help if you did cite the source. You might also consider just adding it to the talk page, though I think citing the source would make it work fine, though it's up to you. Hope this helps. Sorry for that! ~~ Meeples 03:16, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

[edit]

Welcome to the project! Regarding your user name, are you Carcassonne fan? Ziggurat 04:26, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm actually not; it's just a name I've used for various things over the years. By the way, I see you uploaded a picture of the Ear of Dionysius. I spent part of last summer in Siracusa -- fantastic place. ~~ Meeples 04:31, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ha, quite the coincidence then. I was wandered around Sicily about three years ago now, and Siracusa was probably my favourite town - such a friendly place! Ziggurat 05:18, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you erase my article?

Kevin Weisman is the illegitamite, bastard love child of Quentin Tarantino, and Joaquin Phoenix, ya fucking dickweed!—Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.163.100.139 (talkcontribs)

I'll keep that in mind. ~~ Meeples 05:56, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Instead of the sources tag, just revert the edit. I am positive that parts of that come from a mecha website (I just went to confirm). The part here titled "philosophy" is the same as the philosophy section this user is putting in (at least the first sentence is). It violates neutrality and probably also copywrite policies. I've left two messages for this user but they don't seem to be responding and are continuing to make these edits. Ungovernable ForceThe Wiki Kitchen! 05:57, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Will do. Thanks. ~~ Meeples 05:58, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism?

[edit]

Hello there...

I am very confused by your recent message to me about vandlism in regards to ChristianEdwardGruber's user page. What I did was not vandalism as you can see by the edit summery. I was switching out an old userbox for a new one, and I have done so before for Christian before now. Will you please let me know why you feel what I did was vandalism, this is the first time since I have started the userbox change over that I have ever been accused of this, and it has come as a shock to me. - LA @ 07:21, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, it was a mistake on my part -- should be fixed already. ~~ Meeples 07:22, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Revert to July

[edit]

I received a message advising me of vandalism originating from my IP address. I apologize for what may have appeared to be such. It was actually my teenage son demonstrating to me the VandalProof feature of WikiPedia. It won't happen again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.80.225.21 (talkcontribs)

Bitch I will fucking kill you and all of Wikipedia!!!! Stop being a little bitch about things. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nigga360 (talkcontribs)

I deleted that section of the arcticle because that criticism has never been voiced, it looks like whoever wrote that is just somebody who is voicing their own criticism. If there is an article with this concern about his catching style it should be listed.--Hasty5o 05:45, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I was able to find some information that supported the statement that he often catches passes with one hand. I do see your point -- it was a rather negatively worded paragraph. I've cleaned it up a little. Does that seem more reasonable? Let me know. ~~ Meeples 05:46, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I did'nt have a huge problem with the wording it just seemed unfounded. If you could provide a link to the article criticising his catching style i think that would suffice.--Hasty5o 05:52, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's a combo -- I typically only look at anonymous IP edits, though that's not always the case. In the future, please include a reason for deleting material in the edit summary, and people like me are a lot less likely to revert it. By the way, I'll go remove the warning I gave you, since your edit was certainly in good faith. ~~ Meeples 06:07, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks.--Hasty5o 06:21, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Esperanza!

[edit]

Welcome, Meeples, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is Stressbusters, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Natalya by email or talk page. Consider introducing yourself at the Esperanza talk page! Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

Kate Bush vandalism

[edit]

Dear Meeples,

I'm the one who added the nonsense to Kate Bush. She, David Bowie, and Peter Gabriel are the only musical artists of which I am fans. I HAD NO IDEA THAT YOU COULD ACTUALLY EDIT ARTICLES!!!! I've every recording Kate has done. PLEASE, IF YOU'VE the ability restore the original article. Why does Wikipedia allow readers to edit articles? Any nut (which I am sure is what you think I am) can actually change these articles?? I am very sorry. I love Kate Bush and have done so ever since I saw her perform Them Heavy People on Saturday Night Live back in the mid-70s. Please forgive me; I've been drinking and didn't think that I was actually editing anything.

Sincerely, Bob S. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Robert30144 (talkcontribs)

It wasn't nonsense; according to the Prophecy of Our Lady of LaSallette, Satan was released from Hell. Look it up if you want; even if you or anyone else doesn't believe in Satan it is still a historical fact that influenced a considerable amount of Catholics. If you are unable to look up the actual prophecy, I would be happy to provide it for you. Wikipedia includes such "nonsense" as when Dr. Light from Mega Man won the Nobel Prize, and yet an important element of Catholic history which affected millions is not worth posting? That's absurd, if you ask me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.111.157.136 (talkcontribs)

  • It seems like vandalism, so pardon me if I'm wrong. If you can provide proper sources, then it seems like a valid statement to include. I personally disagree about your view of what's "an important element of Catholic history" -- I have a suspicion that most mainstream Cathlolics would disagree with that -- but, again, if you have sources in which to prove me wrong, please cite them here. Sorry for the inconvenience. ~~ Meeples (talk)(email) 05:36, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Capon Edit

[edit]

This was valid. It tells the story of where the origanil term came from, please change it back. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.101.99.83 (talkcontribs)

  • The story seems to be nonsensical -- nothing to do at all with the actual topic. If I'm somehow wrong, please cite the source here, and then you can add it back to the article. However, without citing the source, adding that story back in to the article will likely be considered vandalism. ~~ Meeples (talk)(email) 06:52, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
  • I am referring to your spamming message. Please note that links have not been added but just formatted from italics to normal font as per the Wikipedia guidelines. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.158.39.217 (talkcontribs)
  • External links have been scrutinated months ago and, where considered useful, left there by each state editor according to the wikipedia guidelines.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.158.39.217 (talkcontribs)
  • Thank you for your reply. Please advise whether I can still format from italics to normal the font of the links and sort them by alphabetical order in accordance with the Wikipedia guidelines.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.158.39.217 (talkcontribs)
  • What you're doing is not wrong at all - you're just cleaning up what was already there (and I've slowed you down by incorrectly assuming you were spamming). To be honest, I cannot say whether the links should stay -- I'm inclined to call them spam, but I think that should be decided by someone else. Perhaps someone with more experience on the topic than I will be able to help out. ~~ Meeples (talk)(email) 07:32, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • If you do believe the link follows Wikipedia policies, then you can replace the ones I removed -- if anyone asks, send them to this page (or perhaps my talk page archives if it's not within the next few days) -- I will keep this conversation, so I can be held accountable if I'm wrong. ~~ Meeples (talk)(email) 07:37, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, Monacan High School has a very strong reputation for being a "pothead school." I live very close to the school and know people who attend it, so i know what i'm talking about.

Alleged Vandalism

[edit]

Meeples, It has been a long time since I accesed this web site. To my surprise, I received several emails warning me (three times) about an alleged vandalism. I have no idea what are you talking about since I have never added any terms to any of your dictionaries/lists. Please check your sources before you send something this negative to someone. As a professional, I would not do anything that childish. So, please retract your emails for everyone to see. I don't want any of my colleagues to get the wrong impression about me.

Sincerely, 64.12.116.139 15:17, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Silvia Lee 64.12.116.139 15:17, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Certified Professional Interpreter/Translator[reply]

Hi -- It appears, from the IP address you used to sign this page, that you are using AOL. That means that your IP address changes with each connection to AOL. Warnings intended for a vandal can then be forwarded to the wrong person. I noticed that the IP address you used to sign this comment did not include any warnings posted by me -- your IP address has since changed from when you received the warnings. Unless you can prove otherwise, I'm sure the warnings were legitimate, and also not intended for you personally. I recommend registering for an account here, which prevents any mixups with AOL accounts. Also, warnings would not be sent by email, so I'm rather confused about that part -- exactly what do you mean by that?
Because your AOL connection means that the IP address you left in your comment probably will not allow me to get back to you, I won't post any of this on the talk page of the IP address given. If you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know. Hope this clears things up. ~~ Meeples (talk)(email) 02:33, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
