Speedy deletion nomination of Victor Venerdi[edit]

Victor Venerdi[edit]

Rather than delete this page, I have "userfied" it for you - moved to a page in your user space at User:MeerPicture/Victor Venerdi where you can work on it.

Just having published poems online and having fans on Facebook is not enough for a Wikipedia article. The general inclusion criterion is called Wikipedia:Notability, and is is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases.

The test is, have people not connected with the subject thought him significant enough to write substantial comment about? There is more detail at WP:Notability (summary) and WP:Notability (people), particularly the section WP:CREATIVE. Have any of his poems been published independently (i.e. other than by self-publication)? Have there been independent reviews?

Note also the policy Wikipedia:Verifiability: "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source". That is important anyway, and unsourced material is always liable to be removed; but for articles abut living people it is so important that they are automatically deleted after ten days unless at least some of what they say is referenced to a reliable source.
