Novelists and Awards[edit]

Yes, the list is interesting. I still have to get my head around Lists versus Categories - the value of each, ie what one offers versus the other, but it certainly is interesting to look at. It's easy to get distracted and waylaid isn't it?

Re the parent child issue and awards - I'll see if anyone else comments but it certainly appeals to me to do it that way. But then I'm keen on structure - I think good structure can help meaning, if you know what I mean! Sterry2607 12:46, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Meredyth- Now I understand why you work at night. You are in Austrailia!. I hope you have enjoyed reading about the New England History. I am done with adding any citations(where those were requested) and have tried to list them next to request for citations as an internal link. I also found some very interesting stuff about the abolitionist movement so tweaked it a bit. Ever heard of Abby Kelley Foster? Added a one liner for her. She was a member of that Quaker community. Pretty cool. When you tidy up the article on Uxbridge Massachusetts for last time, you may want to peek at Colonel Seth Reed and Lydia Taft. Since those were historic noteables not otherwised mentioned in wikipedia, I went ahead and added them but obviously have not acquired the wonderful text editing, reference and footnoting skills you have. Hi Meredyth: I screwed up something on Uxbridge and need your help. Something went wrong with reference 18, and it added another reference. You will see it. I wasn't trying to add any references, just reordered a small section and used bullets and subheadings like you seemed to be doing. Date Format[edit]

Thanks for fixing the red links in the Isobelle Camody article. In my defence however I will point out that I didn't break the template with the changes I made because it was broken before I made them. Of course it would have been better to fix them rather than to change them from one broken format into another, but I didn't notice that they were broken at the time. Apologies for my carelessness.

You seem a little peeved though that I'm changing the dates in Australian articles from your preferred format, October 19, 2007, to my preferred format, 19 October 2007. I'm sorry if I've annoyed you, but, in fact, I'm simply changing them to the format described in the excellent Style Manual: For Authors, Editors and Printers, the de facto Australian standard. To see just how accepted this format has become, I searched for Australian style guides which recommend a format for dates. Below is the list I came up with before I got tired. All of them recommend my preferred format. I couldn't find a single manual that recommended your preferred format (if you know of one I'd like to see it).

So, just as there is a standard Australian spelling, there is also a standard Australian format for dates. Just as we use the standard Australian spelling in articles relating to Australia, we should also use the standard Australian format for dates in articles relating to Australia.
