French overseas territory[edit]

While they're included in the government's data count, they are listed separately under John Hopkins data map. As such, it is difficult to maintain accuracy of the data as sometimes, the source cited is from JHMap, other times its from local news source. M nurhaikal (talk) 13:12, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@M nurhaikal: John Hopkins map double count French overseas regions cases. You can see that well in the French official report (949 confirmed cases, including 10 cases in French overseas regions).
French overseas regions are not French overseas territories. French overseas regions are integral parts of France the very same way Alaska and Hawaii are constituent states of the US. There are indeed French overseas territories (like French Polynesia or New Caledonia) with a similar status as Guam or Puerto Rico, but that's not the case of French Polynesia, Martinique, Saint Martin and Saint Barthélémy. Those are all fully part of France. Metropolitan (talk) 13:30, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the clarification. M nurhaikal (talk) 14:04, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
