Thanks for coming out

[edit]

I would like to thank you for coming out and participating in my Request for Adminship, which closed unsuccessfully at (48/8/6) based on my withdrawal. I withdrew because in my opinion I need to focus on problems with my content contributions before I can proceed with expanding my responsibilities. Overall I feel that the RfA has improved me as an editor and in turn some articles which in my eyes is successful. Thank you again for your support. Cheers and happy editing. --kelapstick (talk) 18:21, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rabbis, Dutch Jews

[edit]
The Barnstar of David
Hereby you are awarded the Barnstar of David for removing tautologies from many Judaism-related articles and making improvements to the List of Dutch Jews. gidonb (talk) 18:25, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Funny. Almost 2 years no contrubtions to this page. Then Kelapstick and I have an edit conflict... gidonb (talk) 18:25, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is weird indeed the timing of this specific edit conflict.... In fact the above two messages are my first received messages including even an award! Thanks a lot for my very first award on Wikipedia :-) I feel hono(u)red and hope to further contribute to the important mitswah of "tikun haWikipedia" ;-) Metzujan (talk) 19:06, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hehehe, you are most welcome! I was counting from the welcome message. Regards, gidonb (talk) 19:57, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah right.. Can you take a look at Abraham Samson Onderwijzer. It is my first article and I am not quite sure if the layout is ok like this. Maybe his full name should be mentioned as a note or reference? Is there a special category for Dutch chief rabbi's? Thanks for your time! Metzujan (talk) 20:01, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have taken a look, wikified, expanded etc. The article on Rabbi Onderwijzer is a welcome addition to Wikipedia. You may want to include more information from the sources I added (did little of that), and properly cite the sources (or someone will put on a warning message soon). I had run into the name Onderwijzer when editing outside Wikipedia. There is no category for chief rabbis yet, but some detail is very welcome on list of rabbis. Regards, gidonb (talk) 11:27, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
In the meantime I realize that we had some contact outside Wikipedia in the past. It's a small world. gidonb (talk) 21:57, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for improving the article! I will take a look more in depth and plan to add more sources but the coming days I am very busy. Just one question. You corrected "study under rabbi Dunner" in "study with" but that doesn't reflect the fact that Rabbi Onderwijzer studied while Dunner was presiding the institute.
About the contact outside Wikipedia, I don't think we have ever met outside Wikipedia. What makes you say that? I have never conveyed personal details on Wikipedia! Have a great day, Metzujan (talk) 10:03, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just roll back whatever is not an improvement. No questions asked. I took some extra freedom, knowing that you would check after me. It's true that you did not convey details, so I will not do that either. I contacted you once about contributing to a project you had initiated. We exchanged another letter or two. I understand you moved on as well. gidonb (talk) 11:05, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Rolled back and expanded myself. gidonb (talk) 12:42, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers! Metzujan (talk) 09:54, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Radomski

[edit]

Hello! Every source I have read and used uses the simple name "Paul Radomski". I have retained the "Otto" as a second name since the reputable Oxford source uses it, but there is no evidence of noble descent or status, hence no "von" in his name. Contrary to common belief, not all Germans are "vons", rather the opposite in fact. Constantine 17:37, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Constantine, I have already reacted on the discussion page. Thanks, Metzujan (talk) 15:48, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
