Welcome![edit]

Hello, Mfrick30, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Copying from US government sources[edit]

I noticed that your edits to the Escape respirator article included content copied verbatim from the CDC website. While content from the US federal government is not subject to copyright (and can thus be incorporated into Wikipedia) it needs to be clearly marked as being copied from there. From the perspective of a class assignment, it's important to indicate that this is not your own work, since it might be mistaken for plagiarism if you don't mark it clearly. Michael, I received a notice of possible plagiarism from Wikipedia for some edits you made. It looks like the section they highlighted starts with "Cautions and Limitations of Air Purifying Escape Respirators and ends with "These limitations are not all-inclusive...regulatory agencies may also place limits on their use in their standard".

I think you have two choices to remedy this: 1) Put the entire section in quotes and cite the source. 2) Rephrase the section in your own words.

Let's talk about it today if you are available.
