Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Silverman Research, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Crowdoscope, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! GSMR (talk) 14:29, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Crowdoscope, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

unblock-spamun|Michael Silverman|I must have made a mistake first time creating an article by accident, and now my username is blocked, I am trying to fix what I did wrong, after reading around it I now understand what I did wrong and hopefully can use Wikipedia how intended and make a contribution, I believe that I have interesting insights to share with the Wikipedia community and hope to be unblocked, many thanks Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the three important principles above. PhilKnight (talk) 22:37, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The name 'Michael Silvermann' is already taken, please suggest another. PhilKnight (talk) 02:15, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

unblock|Hello Deb and Phil, thank you for your messages and the biggest apology for not getting back to you earlier, I was away on holiday, did not really have access to the internet and also I did not know what to expect when I made the unblock appeal for my account. I have never edited / created anything on Wikipedia, so I clearly created a bit of a mess when I tried to, and even after I appealed it I clearly did not know what I should have been doing. I know now what I did wrong and intend to use Wikipedia as intended, to inform people. I hope you can look again at my case and please unblock my account. I really appreciate it and I will make sure to check my Wikipedia account regularly to reply to your messages instantly. Many thanks

Requested username:

Request reason:

This is my second request to change my username, as the first time I made it, I was made aware that Michael Silverman was already taken, so hopefully my new requested name is still available. Many thanks for taking the time to sort it out for me

Decline reason:

I am concerned you have not yet answered the questions around WP:COI, asked above by PhilKnight. You are welcome to request another unblock, but please specifically answer those questions. Yamla (talk) 16:38, 4 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Thank you for changing my username Phil, I really appreciate it. And I apologise Phil and Yamla for not answering the above asked questions. I understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a business directory. I do understand the conflict of interest I have caused and that I would cause if I were to use Wikipedia to promote and advertise. I understand that to be considered for an encyclopedia article, the subject has to be notable and make a useful and insightful contribution to the community. I hope I have answered all the questions to your satisfaction, and once again thank you for helping me sort out my account

Accept reason:

You're now unblocked. PhilKnight (talk) 23:03, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]

I have again blocked you from editing for a resumption of the conduct that led to your past block. In fact, you re-created the very same article about your company's very own product, and you not just added blatantly promotional language (and in fact openly stated on the article's talk page that you were out to promote that "research method tool"), you copy-pasted that language from the user manual in violation of copyright. Saying you understand WP:COI is nice and well, but if you really do understand it, I have to conclude that you deliberately chose to ignore it. Huon (talk) 22:54, 24 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I understand that you think that I have not understood the rules of Wikipedia, and considering the second block I feel like I have not. I thought the reason I was blocked the first time is because I used hyperlinks in the text directing to another Wikipedia page and to the website of the research tool. However, this time around I did not include any hyperlinks and simply just explained what Crowdoscope is and how it is a new research method tool, not to promote but to inform. Also, I did have a look at for example Qualtrics, Interbrand and Survey Monkey's Wikipedia pages before and I feel that their content is not much different to what I wanted to put down for Crowdoscope. So I am confused on why I get blocked and I definitely did not ignore the rules deliberately. So I would appreciate it to be unblocked again, and I will rephrase the content and make it a lot more concise, like for example the Qualtrics Wikipedia page. Many thanks

Decline reason:

No reason to unblock you if you are just going to continue writing about Crowdoscope. This would violate both WP:PROMO and WP:COI. If your only intention is to write about Crowdoscope, please do not request another unblock. Yamla (talk) 11:25, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I’d appreciate it if you could unblock my account. I will not continue to try to create a page for Crowdoscope. I had not fully understood the Wikipedia rules about self promotion and conflict of interest. I still would like to have the possibility in the future to contribute to Wikipedia, which is why I’d like my account unblocked again. Thank you!

Accept reason:

I've unblocked your account. Please don't write about Crowdoscope. PhilKnight (talk) 00:16, 8 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
