June 2021[edit]
Hi Microbewriter! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Women in Red[edit]
Hi there, Microbewriter, and welcome to Women in Red. On the basis of the level of editing you have made up to now on Typhoid fever, you don't need much additional help but as you are now interested in writing women's biographies, you might find it useful to look through our Primer for creating women's biographies. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 16:12, 25 June 2021 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for June 29[edit]
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Typhoid fever, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Native Americans. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

October 2021[edit]
Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Stanley Falkow and Othello Washington, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. TJRC (talk) 01:49, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- Please note in particular WP:SURNAME. It means that, after you give a person's full name, you should generally only refer to him by his surname (last name). So in, for example, Stanley Falkow, don't refer to Falkow as "Stan" or "Stanley"; or for that matter, even "Dr. Falkow". Just call him "Falkow".
- That's true of all people you mention in the article, whether they are the subject of the article or not. So once you introduced Othello Washington (whether in Stanley Falkow or in Othello Washington), he is thereafter "Washington"; not "Othello".
- There are exceptions of course, but they're rare. For example, in Chang and Eng Bunker, you can't use the surname "Bunker" to refer to both individuals; both of the twins have the same surname, so it's unavoidable to use first names. But these are exceptions, and in most cases don't apply.
- Thanks! TJRC (talk) 01:57, 8 October 2021 (UTC)

Women in Red 8th Anniversary[edit]

Women in Red 8th Anniversary |
In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary! Join us for some virtual cake and add comments or memories and please keep on editing to close the gap! |
