  • "Knowledge" ought to include something like "How to edit Wikipedia successfully", though that doesn't quite do it -- I mean that the organization ought to have, internally, the expertise to actually edit Wikipedia. This almost certainly means hiring someone who is already an experienced editor to fill at least one role within the organization, but if not then whoever is hired should edit Wikipedia for a couple of hours a day for a couple of months at least.-- Mike Christie
    • Good point, Mike, though I don't think it has to be included in the transition plan. The initial board and numerous volunteers in the program have experience editing WP successfully. I think the transition plan should focus on things that the WMF knows, possesses, and does that the new organization will have to do. Pjthepiano (talk) 00:07, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm not sure what "Methods for incentivizing volunteers" means, in this context. Does it mean "give ambassadors a reason to be ambassadors"? Essentially, marketing the WMEF to editors? I'd be tempted to take that out as giving the wrong impression. We should certainly understand why editors volunteer to be ambassadors, but I don't think there can be any incentives beyond helping a program that they believe in, and helping Wikipedia, can there?

  • I understand your point. People who volunteer for the sake of the project (and not because of any incentives) will probably be more committed. Perhaps "Methods for rewarding volunteers" would be better? I see this as referring to things that the WMF does to thank volunteers - tshirts, trainings, invitations to conferences, etc. However, Jami was the one who suggested this item so I'll defer to her.   • I really meant incentivizing (or rewarding) for particular things (but not for being Ambassadors in general). Like, how do we get Ambassadors to document the good student work they're seeing?, to take from a problem we're currently experiencing! I'm find with rewording or removing, though.
