RE:Aston Villa F.C.

[edit]

I reverted the edit as it wasn't consistent within the article itself let alone other club articles. You didn't change the flags for the other uses in the article such as loan players or the Hall of Fame section. Let me ask first off, why do you want them changed? I don't see the particular need for consistency of flagicons across club articles. As long as an article is consistent I don't see much need to change them. What is the actual difference between the two sets of templates? I find using the full country name is easier for new editors as opposed to using ISO codes. Wikipedia has a number of different flagicons available for use to editors for a reason, so they can make their own choices about what works best in an article. If you want to setup a guideline across footy articles you should open up a discussion at WP:FOOTY. I have to say though that I don't see it as a particularly top priority I'm afraid. Please don't be too perturbed by my response. If you feel that there is an issue worth pursuing and you feel that there is something to be gained from it then please open up a discussion in a suitable place. If it is for more technical purposes as you suggest then you should perhaps go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Flag Template who would be able to explain the output from the template in each article and how readable it is for outside databases. I suspect there is already a way to utilise the flag data contained within articles without needing the ISO code. Regards, Woody (talk) 21:13, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
